This could be a really nice property. At a glance everything’s fine, $40 to $50 higher than I would have expected, but that’s personal view, let’s get to the experience.
I had reserved a king accessible room online. We arrived and received our keys without problems. Up to the room…
The room presented well overall so we began to settle in, which means setting up CPAPs for my wife and I. One side of the bed has no night table, no lamp, no outlets whatsoever. Down to the desk to see if there might be an extension cord to borrow so I could set up my CPAP on the floor. “We don’t have any of those” very dismissively. I attempted to explain that sleep requires this machine, which requires power, which I didn’t have. Again, “Well, we don’t have any”. When asked about changing rooms he got absolutely rude, “Well I could, but it won’t be king OR accessible”. Now I’m getting upset, this guy is not only not trying to help with my problem, he’s being a jerk about there even being a problem. Freely admit that by this time I’m angry, but in control, pressing more, trying to come up with some way we can sleep tonight, I got “I’d be happy to check you out”, I headed for the door, “Never mind, I’ll go buy a f#$&ing extension cord. Well that set him off, he’s waiving his hands and yelling “Language, Language” like he’s chiding his 12 year old. Ve had enough of him so we left to find a cord..
Get back, ignoring him on the way in because I’m still upset and didn’t want to escalate things any further. Back upstairs and start to finally settle in, the black out blind doesn’t work, well damn. After showers I attempted to turn the temperature down, the wall thermostat has dead batteries (sigh). Back down, where thankfully a different person was there who did find some used batteries in a drawer. Put them in the thermostat, which now lights up but still does nothing. Heck with it, bed.
In the morning we tried to heat something up in the microwave. Odd, it’s unplugged. Turns out that as soon as you plug it in, it turns on, and stays on until you once again unplug it for the next guest to figure out. I only want out of there, minus my $215..,
You might wonder if I brought all this to the attention of the manager but there was really no need, because the center of the problem, the rudest and most disinterested person I have EVER encountered at the desk, was none other than the GM himself, Tim (last name unknown, as he refused to provide it, or a business card).
When I, very politely requested a card (not provided) then his name the next morning he literally yelled “Don’t worry, I’ll be filing a complaint about you too”!
We will be passing through with some regularity, and will be not stopping in Tucumcari, ever again
