Convenient location

A friendly check-in experience set the tone for a great stay at the Holiday Inn Laramie - University Area hotel. My king-bed room was comfortable and spacious, including the bathroom. I appreciated the in-room sink, mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, iron and board, plus plenty of outlets in the room. In my 3-night stay, I requested daily housekeeping service, and they did a great job. An outlet and the wall-mounted hair dryer had small nightlights that were quite helpful in the dark. The hotel is in a convenient location just off E. Grand Ave. with easy access and multiple food choices close-by. There's a lobby bar that features drink specials and happy hour. Some reservations may feature a coupon for a discounted drink. Speaking of the lobby, the coffee on offer in the morning was flavorful and smooth. Hot water was also available with several tea selections. A fitness center, pool, and self-service laundry are available. It's super-convenient for anyone with business at the university - it's so close. * Note: It's really convenient that there is a Perkins attached to the hotel. Breakfast is not included with stays, but they do offer a discount on your meal if you give your room number.

For $240 you also can have a subpar experience!! Room isn't clean by 3pm. No breakfast, get an additional $200 charge on my card only upper management can correct, pull out a pillow and get the odor of someone else's head on the pillowcase Housekeeping knocks at 9:20am (checkout is NOON!!!!), someone else's hair in the bathroom and pretty sure the shower floor has never been scrubbed and I didn't want to remove my shoes for the disgusting carpet. Pick anywhere else in Laramie to stay. The only positive was great staff and a decent pool.

The proximity to Perkins restaurant was great. Everybody on the staff (both at the hotel and at the restaurant) were fantastic.

Upon arriving, my room had something in it that beeped irregularly. We thought it was the smoke alarm, but after changing batteries, AND ripping the whole thing out of the wall, turned out not to be the smoke alarm. Whatever it was, it got solved on the second day. But it made for a slightly less than fun first night. Staff was AMAZING though. Really great people.
