Holiday Inn Express Stuart by IHG

We checked into this hotel and within 30 minutes realized the air conditioning wasn’t working. We called the front desk expecting someone to come check it, but instead, they told us to come downstairs and pick up keys for another room. No assistance was offered—we were simply moved to the room directly across the hall. Later that night, around midnight, we were startled awake by someone repeatedly trying to enter our room. Thankfully, we had the safety bar locked. I was disoriented and confused, but managed to ask through the door what was going on. A woman responded that she was “trying to find out if somebody was in the room.” Extremely alarming. I called the front desk using the room phone, but the person answering acted like they couldn’t hear me and kept saying “Hello?” before hanging up. I immediately called the hotel back using my cell phone, and she answered—this time pretending she had no idea what was going on. When I asked her name, she gave me one… which I later found out belonged to another staff member entirely. The next morning, I went to the front desk, explained everything that happened, and asked to speak to a manager about a refund. No manager came out. I called the hotel three more times that day asking to speak to someone in charge, and no one returned my calls. We ended up checking out and booking The Lucie on Hutchinson Island instead—at a lower rate! It was everything this place wasn’t: safe, clean, professional, and relaxing with a beautiful oceanfront view, pool, and bar. I absolutely do not recommend this hotel. From the broken AC and unhelpful staff to the frightening late-night incident and complete lack of accountability, this was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had.

Room was well appointed and clean, bed comfortable. Breakfast options were sufficient. Staff made a good recommendation for dinner at a nearby restaurant.

We specifically asked for a quiet room, since we were returning from a tiring trip. We called early in the day to repeat that request. When we arrived, we were placed on a floor with a large number of families attending a sports tournament. The kids congregated in the halls and ran up and down talking and laughing until near 11 pm. Several appeals for quiet were ignored. The telephone in our room didn’t work, so we couldn’t call reception to ask them to take care of the problem. Amenities in the bathroom were very basic, not even a shower cap.

Hotel was perfect for our stay for a softball tournament weekend. Pool was full so didn’t get to enjoy that, but Dunkin’ Donuts is right next to it so that’s a plus.

The free breakfast was good nice variety. The check in process very quick Staff was very professional

The bed was a little soft for my taste

Location very convenient. Breakfast - adequate! Pancake machine needs to be adjusted to cook a little longer, Cook less scrambled eggs, cook more if necessary. Don't leave them in serving dish until dry. Liked cotton sheets on bed. I hate polyester sheets. I won't stay in any of the Hilton brands because of polyester sheets1

Had a late get in very comfortable needed that extra hour so we took the late check out Miss breakfast but they have free coffee 24/7 so we heated it up in the microwave it was still okay service was excellent room was clean and very comfortable

I love it because it was clean and beautiful and the front desk was really nice.

Bed Bugs!!!!! Do not stay in this hotel!!!! Was there 3/19 to 3/22/25 and came home with bed bugs in our luggage!! Had to pay for an exterminator!! He confirmed they were bed bugs. See attached pix. Threw my luggage out and multiple other items. Called corporate over a week ago and they still have not called me back. Cost over $200 a night to stay there. Multiple things wrong. Booked the hotel a week in advance and they did not have the accessible room I reserved when we checked in. They put us in a small standard room in which I could not use my walker as it didn't fit past the beds or into the bathroom. Next morning they moved us upstairs to a handicapped room. This room turned out to have multiple things wrong with it. Window shade did not come down was more than halfway up, people could see in, and we could see the traffic out on the road. Could not pull it down manually. Deadbolt lock broken on door, so they had 2 flip locks on the door, outlet I used night before did not work the next day, and bathroom lock did not lock. When we told them about the window shade, they told us it needed charging, came back later shade still not down, night clerk said motor was broken. Said there were no other rooms to move us to. Husband helped clerk hang mattress cover over the window. Hotel breakfast was also terrible. We have been staying at Holiday Inn Expresses for the past 3 years and are an IHG member and this is by far the worse one we have ever been at!! Most devastating is the bed bugs, will have to keep checking and respraying for because they are very hard to get rid of. Costing me $$$$ All in all a devastating experience. Totally ruined our vacation.
