We loved this place and will stay again for sure! The ONLY complaint we had was the door to our room. The lock seemed to malfunction daily, sometime twice daily. Quite a few trips back to the lobby to get a new key. Room 302B We will be back next year!!

The staff were friendly, attentive & accommodating. I rented a 1 bdrm condo w/a sofa sleeper. The condo was fully equipped! Very convenient! It’s an older building. Furniture is dated and kitchen needs a makeover. Overall I had a pleasant stay.

Our room was small, but had all amenities we needed. Parking was included in room price. Pool was ok. Only odd thing was we had to empty our garbage and take to dumpster before checking out. Overall very acceptable.

"RCI Bookings Beware - Hale Kipa Building & Staff - Yikes!"

4.0

We kept reading horrible things about Kahana Falls when booked through RCI. We've driven past the resort many times in years past and wonder how could it be so bad? It looks lovely from the street. Well, I'm here to tell you: Upon check-in the front desk lady kept referring to "RCI"... "I see you booked with RCI" "since you booked with RCI" etc. To the point one already feels like a second class citizen and we don't even have key cards yet. Finally, with key cards in hand we make 2 lefts as we leave the registration parking area and see our accommodation is an older looking two-story building out back, nothing at all like the two towers you see from the street when passing by. But we came with an open mind, knowing it may be less than stellar based on previous reviews so we venture forth. Upon opening the door to our ground floor unit the stench was overwhelming! It's smelled old and musty as well as having a chemical type odor that I don't know what it was and could only speculate, so I won't. We immediately started airing the place out, brought our bags inside and took a good look around. At bedtime the first night we closed the windows and doors so the AC could run more efficiently and I ended up getting a migraine within four hours. The rest of our stay we kept one window open to keep a positive air flow of fresh air, not just the chemical smelling air and I did not have any more migraines. Overall, the unit, which is a one bedroom (sleeps 2) with a full kitchen was sufficient in its layout and being decently supplied. But it's old and in desperate need of renovation. The kitchen floor is tile and I'm not sure if there was a single tile in there that was not cracked, broken or had a hole in it. The unit was also very dirty. They want you take your shoes off at the door but oh my word the filth on the floor was unbearable barefoot. I did find the broom, dust pan and mop and put them to good use! But it was appallingly dirty. The living room and bedroom had wood look floors that were equally as dirty as the kitchen and bathroom. There is no lanai, or not by my definition. There was a small slab of concrete out back (off of the bedroom via sliding glass doors) with two chairs and a small table. No roof over it. The chairs face out to a retaining wall which essentially holds back the Honoapiilani Hwy. So you have road noise all day and all night. BUT, if you have a second story unit, you have nothing but a window looking out to the highway. Some of "patios" (for lack of a better word) have some vegetation, others do not. Back inside, the bathroom is the best part of the entire unit. It HAS been renovated! Nice tile floor, lovely shower, decent storage space with four drawers and a small cabinet space under the sink. Front desk: Due to our unhappiness with the unit (smell, uncleanliness, lack of lanai, etc. we went to the reception desk to ask a few questions about the resort. To keep this novel shorter suffice it to say that the woman (different from initial check-in) refused to answer any of our questions saying things like "you'll have to call RCI" in response to "are there 2 bedroom units here at Kahana Falls." Tried to explain that we would attempt to book outside of RCI should we bring our friends on our next trip and she said "I'm not comfortable answering that." Tried to ask about what type of units are in the Hale Kipa building (the two story unit we were housed in) and she responded with "I don't want to be quoted." It was ridiculous and absurd so we left. It was at that moment that, as we walked away, that I determined I'd be writing a review. She was beyond rude and it's clear they'd really rather not deal with you... at least not if you've booked through RCI.

Room was nice condition, but small. It had a door to adjoining room that needs to be sound insulated, so you can not hear conversations and noise from tenants next door.

""Kahana Falls: Where Parking Lots and Highways are Your Scenic Views, and Mystery Shrouds the Two-Bedroom Units!""

4.0

Oh, where do I even begin with our delightful stay at Kahana Falls? First off, let's talk about our 1-bedroom suite. Note: We booked via RCI. If you consider a sea of asphalt and the occasional rogue cleaning cart an ocean, then congratulations, you've got yourself an ocean view! Our front window opened up to a magnificent panorama of the parking lot, while the back offered a thrilling vista of a concrete wall and the soothing lullaby of highway traffic. The unit itself was a real treat. The floors? Let's say if you enjoy the artistic expression of grime, you'd be thrilled. The smell was... unique. A blend of mystery and musk, leaving you guessing what might have been left fermenting in the corners. Now, about the service. We asked the front desk if there were any two-bedroom units for future visits, thinking maybe, just maybe, we could upgrade to a view of the dumpster or something equally scenic. But the lady at the desk? She was like a vault with information. "I don't know, I don't want to be quoted," she said, as if we were reporters from a scandal sheet. Very mysterious, very cloak-and-dagger. Our building, oh our sweet building, seemed to be the redheaded stepchild of the trio. It was as if the other buildings got all the good genes - or at least, the maintenance, landscaping and design budget. In conclusion, if you're into parking lot aesthetics, enigmatic smells, and staff with more secrets than a spy novel, Kahana Falls might just be your next vacation spot. But for those seeking a bit more... well, anything really, you might want to reconsider. Would I return? Only if I lose a bet. Traveler's Tip: Bring your own air freshener and a vivid imagination. "Clean, basic accommodation "

Great price for Maui and you get what you pay for rings true. The single room was very clean with convenient galley kitchen. Walking distance to some shops/restaurants and across the beach. Room rather dark with only small windows and no balcony. There was a huge roach in the sink. Staff friendly.
