Friendly staff & nice location on the river. Good base for exploring the area.

The rooms are very plain and dated. We went over the Easter weekend, but found it incredibly expensive for what it was. We paid ~£300 for 2 nights in a family room (2 adults, 2 kids), then were hit with a £16 charge immediately upon arriving for parking. Then breakfast isn't included, so we ended up paying another ~£100 for 2 days breakfasts. The cooked breakfast (baring in mind it costs around £16) only has one sausage, one rasher of bacon, one hash brown and one egg. I wasn't very impressed, so didn't bother with it the second day.

Everyone was very friendly and helpful. It was great value for the price and the location was great with nice scenery.

There was a lack of restaurants in the area which isn’t necessarily the property’s fault, however the prices of their food were very expensive. The room was also incredibly hot.

On arrival you sense it is a proper hotel, where the manager is friendly and welcoming. I was given a lovely room with a view and the bed was lovely and comfy. The room gets refreshed everyday just like the old days. I stayed 4 nights and every day, every member of staff was welcoming and friendly. Lovely stay and the location is amazing.

Beautiful location

Room too hot and couldn’t turn the radiator off. Asked for a coffee and croissant for breakfast and my croissant came covered in icing sugar!

The staff were absolutely fantastic, professional and friendly. The assistance offered was second to none.

The WiFi could have been better to aid with emails and calls. I appreciate that it was available in the public areas but in the room would have been nice too.

Absolutely fabulous 2 days..location is of dreams on a sunny day which we had. Lots local walks even for the older not so fit.. staff here were so welcoming and friendly throughout the stay..nothing too much trouble. Don't be tempted to eat else where the royal is definitely the best meal we had... we made a mistake by trying else where last night. It couldn't compare.. We will definitely be back... thankyou ladies and chef... memory's were made x
