Killarney Dromhall Hotel

My stay at this hotel was lovely other than three problems.One, the first night the women in the room next to me were really loud at 12:30 at night. The hotel has posted quiet hours, and I could hear them very clearly and easily through the door. I am sure it was caused by Bike Fest, where 2000 bikers come for the weekend. The second was the room was extremely hot all three nights. Even opening the window up did not help, and there was no air conditioning. Worst was the first night I made dinner reservations at the hotel restaurant. Mind you I was staying three night at over $620 Euro. I even dressed for dinner in a nice work dress. I was shown to a table and given three menus, the regular, A drinks menu, and the specials. No-one brought any water over. I had made reservations. I waited over 15 minutes when a waiter finally showed up. I asked if the special was available of the appetizer, main and dessert for 40 Euros, and he said No. I then gave him the drink and specials menu and said I would not need them. He took them and just walked away without even asking if I was ready to order (I was.) I waited another 3 minutes. He did not come back, nor did anyone else come back. No one even offered water. It looked like no one was coming back for some time, so I left. I wrote the manager a letter informing him about this. He replied offering a free breakfast (breakfast was served starting at 10 on Saturdays). I wrote a reply thanking him, but stating I had tours starting at 9am, and so breakfast was useless. I never got a reply offering a drink or a discount fordinner. I found that very rude and pretty inconsiderate, especially as I was a three night hotel guest. However, the rest of the staff was lovely. The bed was very comfortable. Despite the hotel having a 3pm check in time, my room was available at 11:15. The shower was exceptionally nice, with labels on how the shower worked and plenty of hot water very nice touches. The toiletries were nices, and the towels fluffy. It is about a 15 minute walk from the train station. A Central mart is directly across the street, which is very convenient. An ice bucket would be nice, but they provide one if you ask.

Dromhall is conveniently located in Killarney. We were two women on a golfing trip. This hotel is geared for tour groups. They do not cater to single travelers. For example, our stay of 5 nights included breakfast but we were told we couldn’t get breakfast until after 8:30 am. The reason for this, is the tour groups are on a time schedule for breakfast..7-7:30, 7:30 to 8, etc. we had to lug our clubs, luggage, etc., as the gentlemen helping with bags worked with the tour groups. We repeatedly asked for a room on the first floor and were told they would check but to no avail. It was a decent place to stay but restaurant was not readily available but you could eat in the pub. We did get into the restaurant early on 2 occasions which was helpful. On the day we left early, we were told we could get a continental breakfast. I went across the street for coffee- our takeaway breakfast consisted of two soggy pieces of bread with a sausage in between….it was inedible. The room was ok. You couldn’t move the hair dryer cause it was permanently attached through the desk (see photo). If you’re on a tour on a bus you may be ok with it but I can’t recommend for golfers or small groups. The room we had could have seen better days and if you’re a golfer there’s no drying room (which you seriously need in Ireland). (See photos)

Ideal location if you don’t want to stay in Killarney Town itself. Very clean . Staff were so friendly and welcoming. Room service was excellent. One hundred will be back next year
