Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar - Adults Only - All Inclusive

This was my first trip to the Dominican and it was wonderful. It’s my new favorite vacation spot. The resort is amazing, the staff is so attentive, the food was top-tier and drinks were never ending and delicious. I couldn’t recommend this place enough. It’s perfect for couples. We also visited the other Baja principal resort in the compound and they just as good and family friendly. There’s so much to do there that you will never need to leave the resort. I highly recommend MEAT restaurant, fish market restaurant, Limbo the French restaurant and Portofino the Italian restaurant, which are all located in the Ambar. And don’t forget to visit the sports bar its was fantastic. Make sure to reservations to the à la cart restaurants before you leave on your trip or as soon as you get to the hotel, these restaurants book up fast.

We travelled for our birthdays first week of November. This was our 2nd time at the Ambar (we had been to Coba in Mexico before with the kids) and we had fallen in love with the place the first time back in April 2023. The food, the staff, the beach, the pool, the number of chairs or palapas available, all that was as great as last time. The problem was the state of the room and problems that we kept having every single day with it. We stayed for 7 days in room 68206 and these are the problems we encountered across those 7 days….the ceiling fan was making a ticking sound so it had to be changed, the lock on the patio door was non-existant so that had to be installed, the toilet stopped flushing, had boiling hot water only for the whole stay but then there was a day (coming back from a massage at the spa) where we just had no water at all, hotel safe malfunctioned, 2 days the minibar was not filled and on the last day we had cockroaches in the room. In my opinion this room should never have been given to any guests. I feel the place is falling behind in up keeping its room standards. There were a few other irritants but they were more to do with language barriers. We’ve travelled ALOT and thought we had found our go to place but we are not sure if we will return which pains me because absolutely everyone on the staff is excellent.

Great time. Room was big and spacious. Food was okay. Plenty to choose from. Steak house was fantastic. Staff throughout was great. Nono at the buffet was entertaining he was great. And lady at the lobby bar area was fantastic.

Food, staff, service, clean, beach, and pool Very clean Fairly close to the airport, a half hour ride Spacious and clean with a patio. Some noise above us, chairs sliding around. Loud music by the pool. Lots of activities by the pool and a party atmosphere. The palapas on the beach were quieter. Great for reading and swimming in the warm, blue Sea. The beach was powder sand and very clean.

Aquilino is the BEST bartender at Limbo restaurant! The bar opens at 5:30, so before or after dinner cocktails is a Must! Nertania kept our room clean and tidy at least twice a day! She left beautiful flowers and even a swan one day! Antonio was great from welcoming us, to walking my lost hubby back to our room, to making sure our luggage was picked up and ready to go on the day we departed. Fun activities at the pool each day and shows each night. A great time was had by all! We will be back!

The Bahia Principe Ambar is fabulous. Out of the 7 resorts within the Bahia Principe complex it has the best location, access to the beach via the pool in minutes from the lobby and large spacious rooms which are kept spotless every day. The food was delicious. The lobby buffet has a large selection for all meals and we visited a number of the a la carte restaurants in the resorts and the food and service were excellent. We mostly ate at Las Brisas, the beach buffet and a huge thank you to Meilenis, Rayphi, Ingrid and Arecelis for treating us like VIPs! The beach is beautiful, plenty of beach chairs and thank to Genaro and Gloria for looking after us! The pool area is great and again a big thank you to Yael, Johandri, Bianca and Estefania for keeping the drinks flowing! Entertainment is excellent! There were always activities every day at the beach, lobby or pool - aerobics, pool parties, crazy games, dance classes. Thank you to Maura for great service in the lobby. We really enjoyed the live music on most days, shows, sunset and beach parties. The entertainment team worked tirelessly every day and a special thank you to Alfredo (Popeye), Wilson, Yeimy and Ray for their energy, laughter and friendship! We would love to come back to this resort in the future.

The Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar is just a fantastic place! It's part of the huge Bahia Principe complex of 7 resorts but this was delightfully smaller, tucked away in the best location - lobby to beach via the pool in minutes. The rooms are spacious and kept spotless every day. The grounds are also immaculate. Food is plentiful! The lobby buffet has a huge selection for all meals - there is absolutely something for everyone, and we visited a number of the a la carte restaurants and in both there and the buffet the food and service were excellent. We mostly ate lunch at Las Brisas, the beach buffet, and I want to send a huge thank you to Ingrid, Meilenis, Aracelis and Rayphi (aka for us Mamajuana Man) there for treating us like VIPs! The beach is a relaxing place and big thank you to Gloria and Genaro for looking after us! The pool area is great and again thank you to Yael, Johandri, Bianca and Estefania for keeping the drinks flowing. Entertainment is excellent! There is always something going on - aerobics, pool parties, crazy games, dance classes - at the beach, pool or lobby. Thank you to Maura for great service in the lobby! We were impressed with live music on many days, shows, and both sunset and beach parties. The entertainment team work tirelessly and I want to send a massive thank you to Alfredo (Popeye), Wilson, Yeimy and Ray for your friendliness, endless energy and laughter! You are awesome! I had a wonderful experience during my stay, big thank you to the house keeping staff who make our stay even better especially on my birthday by making two dove with red roses in my room and keeping my room clean and comfortable. As for the resturant staff everyone who we encounter was friendly and the coffee and drinks keep flowing 😉 omg not to mention the cart driver's always willing to help. I WILL DEFINITELY RETURN BUT THIS TIME WITH MY KIDS.

For my 60th birthday I wanted to go somewhere different so we chose Bahia Principe Luxury Ambar in the Dominican Republic. First impressions was it looked great. The food was really nice, lots to chose from in the main buffet. We usually had breakfast and lunch in Las Brisas which was really nice - the fried cheese sticks were yummy. We tried some of the a la carte, Portofino (18+) - Italian, very nice, MEAT (18+) - steakhouse, it was okay (I'm not a steak fan), Rodizio at Las Olas - Brazilian - this was lovely and the steak was melt in the mouth, Naan- Indian at Esmerelda, very yummy, lots of small dishes but very filling, and our favourite - Limbo (18+), small menu but oh so delightful we ate there three times - the Chocolate Textures dessert was so good I had it all three times we visited. The beach was okay, we only went for a walk once. The Ambar pool was okay, could've done with cleaning a bit more often than it was - there was a strange scum on it near one of the whirlpool areas but no-one showered before entering so it was likely scum due to suncream overload. The entertainment team around the pool and in the pool were always enthusiastic and very friendly and smiley. The pool bar itself was great, the waitress staff were hit and miss, one of the more popular ladies would take our order and we would still be waiting 30 minutes later so found it easier to go to the bar (tip, bring insulated cups - they will fill then up with your favourite drink - and the insulation will keep them chilled for hours). Concierge service was also hit and miss - Ysael was better and would help with everything you asked. We asked for tv remote batteries (need your tv for if you get a rainy day which we did), and never got them. Also reported leaky shower, its still leaking I expect. Should've reported to Ysael and we might've seen better results. Our room was nice, lots of space. Bed was very comfy but pillows were lumpy - tip - ask housekeeper for a different type of pillow as you get a pillow menu when staying at Ambar. The shower is open which wasnt a problem for us as we are a couple, the water does go on the bathroom floor though as the shower tray is not that brilliant at keeping the water inside it. The toilet does have a door on it as even couples need privacy when using the toilet. The mini bar is also restocked every day - leave the mini bar staff a note of what you prefer, with a small tip, and they will be happy to meet your requirements- it is stocked with mini vodka, whiskey and rum, 2 cans of presidente beer, pepsi, a fizzy orange drink, one fizzy water, small bottles of water and some small snack packets of peanuts.

From the helpful guest experience to the luxury resort and room, this place is absolute paradise. Room was clean & comfortable. We enjoyed the swim up pool. The main pool was clean, inviting, and staff took great care of us!
