I agree with the reviews that point out that the hotel is older and shows some wear. But that is also part of the charm of an "old world" experience. The breakfast was plentiful. We booked the dinner as well and recommend doing so for at least one night to enjoy both the food and the 5-course dining experience. Top notch and truly a bargain for the price/value. Servers could learn to smile occasionally, but nobody was rude and they were attentive. The grounds are beautiful, well maintained with tons of flowers and the pool was refreshing. They have a delicious coffee and cake in the afternoon if you are on site. Location is fantastic- quiet and easily walkable to town and alternatively close to a bus stop. Ample, safe parking included. I don't think I would book a week here, but for a fun "step back in time," (which we felt throughout Merano), I recommend a night or two at Hotel Juliane.

While we found the room to be fine (perhaps a little dated decor, but in a charming way), the only real complaint is that the bed was not the most comfortable. Sauna/steam area could use an update.
