Villa VIK - Hotel Boutique

The setting is great with big rooms, a large heated pool and a hot tub. It was never too crowded, and we had the pool to ourselves the two times we used it. We found the food in the evening to be high quality.

The service really let the property down for us- there weren’t enough staff and some of those we did meet were poorly trained. Simple things like ordering a drink or a coffee, getting a cushion for a sun bed or ordering breakfast proved difficult. The staff were friendly and clearly trying their best, but at this price point we expected better.

Although just minutes from beaches and good restaurants, Villa Vik was a beautiful retreat from the hustle bustle of the tourist areas. The staff is friendly, and the rooms are pristine. The grounds are filled with private retreats to read or relax in the sun.

Internet in the rooms could have been better. Coffee available outside of breakfast hours.

Everything was perfect. A truly peaceful accommodation in a nice location. The food was also great. The hot tub also helped a lot after a long day.

The hotel was understaffed sometimes has to wait for staff who were expected to multitask. The beds were very hard and uncomfortable. No lift made moving suitcases difficult.

Breakfast buffet good. Quiet. Beautiful building and well kept garden. Nice pool and jacuzzi. Outdoor breakfast possible. Dinners ok.

Most of the time understaffed: one waiter responsible for reception, bar and breakfast/dining room? Wifi coverage in rooms unusable, in the bar ok.

Lovely spacious room in lovely relaxed hotel. Extremely friendly and engaging staff. Only suggestion is that they could do with tea or coffee making facilities in the room.

Excellent food and choice at breakfast. Excellent food at dinner. Staff very friendly and worked extremely hard. The hotel and grounds were beautiful, quiet and clean. The room facilities were great. We much appreciated our private hot tub and the delightful heated swimming pool. The laid-back understated atmosphere.

No vegetarian main course on offer. Often the dining room was understaffed, so the service at times was too slow (we ate there fourteen times). A lack of tea/coffee making facilities in our room.We found the bed mattress uncomfortably firm to sleep on. Environmentally speaking, all the frequent towel and bed changing, as compared to many other hotels we have stayed in, made us feel uncomfortable.

Staff were excellent. They worked exceptionally hard and were very helpful, cheerful and courteous. Garden and pool areas were attractive and immaculate. Hotel was very clean.

There should have been more staff at night to support the bar service. A family waited to be served, but in the end walked away without having a drink. The hotel was a little further out of Arrecife and Playa Honda than we expected (30 minutes walk each way in both directions).

The place is very tranquil and comfortable and well situated if you like the idea of getting away from the crowds. The sea is just a very short walk away with a splendid promenade. The rooms are large and comfortable with an enormous double bed.

Food was very mediocre with many of the items advertised on the breakfast menu unavailable, having run out on some days. The staff all tried hard but some were more confident with better interpersonal skills than others. In general, there just didn't seem to be enough of them at meal times and they were working under too much pressure. The evening meal only offered two choices - fish or meat which is very limited, particularly for vegetarians. The additional vegetables for the main course proved to be a few peas with the odd carrot. After a couple of days we resorted to asking for omlettes (which were prepared). When reading previous customers reviews we found our experience was matched by others and am surprised more has no been done to address the issues which seem longstanding. There were a number of faults with the room when we first arrived - the safe didn't work and the nearby drains smelled and this had crept into the room. We asked for the room to be moved due to the smell but as the hotel was full this was not possible. In fairness, these faults were resolved with 24 hours.
