Very cool spot. Good location to jump off from. Wonderful attentive and accommodating staff.

Jeff and Shalini were amazing!! Really enjoyed our stay. Very quaint bedrooms, very clean bathrooms, and a perfect stay for a vegan couple like us!

A charming Victorian B&B and perfect for my last visit to San Francisco. An exploratory hike up Presidio Ave from the front doorstep took me into the beautiful Presidio National Park where I encountered the Yoda Fountain, Palace of Fine Arts and finally Chrissy Field for that view of the Golden Gate Bridge. In between urban hikes and other excursions into other parts of the city, it was nice to come back to the Monte Cristo. No matter what time it was, there was always water, juices, coffee, homemade treats, and fresh fruit to nibble on in the common area. Also that day’s WSJ, NYT and SF Chronical to peruse by fireplace. My room maintained that 19th century feel (I.e. wallpaper, art, and bed frame), but still had the necessary modernity when needed (I.e. bathroom, bedding and flatscreen TV). You can really tell that the innkeeper and staff enjoy providing a nice experience for their guests too.

Great place!

We escaped the LA fires and chose this place. This is an 1875 B&B with tons of charm and privacy but also excellent service and modern appliances, like a bidet and towel warmer. Well-located, very well operated, very comfortable. A couple suggestions about breakfast: I would have appreciated more fake meat i.e., fake bacon and fake sausage, NOT Beyond brand, and also a better bagel variety (blueberry and "everything" should be supplemented with poppy, sesame, and/or plain).

The Monte Cristo Bed & Breakfast is a gem!! It reminded me so much of my European travels. The building is unique and pleasing. Jack is very helpful and kind. The property is within walking distance of many food venues. We were able to park, easily, near the Monte. Make sure you pay attention to street parking signs. Fabulous sweet treats are put out for your enjoyment, including chocolate, cookies & tea. Don’t miss the hot, made to order breakfast. I will definitely stay at the Monte again in the future.

Wonderful, old 18 room hotel with lots of history. Casual and comfortable. Great bed. I was worried about road noise, because our room face Presidio Ave but there was none, except if a fire engine went by. Even though the hotel is old and full of antiques the bathrooms have been updated. Loved that it had a bidet toilet and a long bathtub. Comfortable sitting room downstairs with 24/7 snacks. Breakfast (included) was excellent. You could order eggs or vegetarian hot breakfast. They also had granola, fruit, yogurt, etc. We were there for 5 days and needed to be at UCSF each day. It’s a 10 minute walk away. The owner is really nice and helpful. Overall, no complaints.
