Cedarwood Inn of Ashland

We’ve stayed here since the 80s and at least once a year since the 80s and the Inn is showing its age. It is generally clean. Some long term residents have brought the ‘nicety’ down a little, but I give kudos to Cedarwood for providing those residents with a safe spot to live.

Beautiful outdoor pool

Hallways were dirty and outdoor carpets had a lot of dog hair. No elevator, saw older people struggling to get up the stairs. A lot of dogs.

Location somewhat close to downtown.

The room was clean but ugly. No soap or shampoo in bathroom. Curtains were too short to cover window, so privacy felt compromised. WiFi barely functioned.

The room’s space is bigger than motel 6, and breakfast is nice, the location is very convenient.

Spa. The toilet flushed.

There were burned out lights. To plug in the coffee maker you had to stretch the cord across the bathroom door. Wallpaper tearing off the wall. Curtains don't close fully. Outlets dead - we plugged in computers to charge overnight with no effect. Metal bed frame that sounded like a drum every time you kicked it. Pillowcases on two of the four pillows. A flat queen sheet instead of a fitted king. The guy in charge of breakfast kept coughing and hacking, but never washed his hands that we saw. This property was probably once very nice, but there is a huge amount of deferred maintenance that needs addressing. I could go on.

The staff was very friendly. Our room was clean. The hospitality room and complimentary breakfast area was questionable and we chose to eat out for breakfast. The remodel was really surface: there was visible dry rot on the exterior beams, missing tiles in the bathroom, sagging doors and wall paper was not aligned. The windows were original to the building. However we are design enthusiasts and my spouse is a retired remodeler so these things stand out. We would stay again.
