"Wonderful view!"

10.0

Gorgeous view. Plenty of sattelite channels for the t.v. Little bar/relaxation area downstairs. Much nicer to take the funicular/trolley to stay, than in the town center. Completely relaxing feeling when you enjoy the view. Make sure to try to book for a view.

"Friendly owners and staff, homely hotel"

10.0

I had to phone the hotel in advance of our visit and discovered that the wife of one of the two owners was English. She was helpful and friendly. We met and chatted to her husband during our stay and he was also extremely nice and his English very good. The reason for my call was a misunderstanding about the accommodation available in the apartment. Expedia's site referred to just one bed. In fact, the apartment can accommodate four (one double bed and a double sofabed in separate rooms). It is spacious and has excellent views across Como and the lake. Due to our misunderstanding we booked an additional double room, smallish but comfortable, with a partially obscured view of the lake. Others have described difficulties in finding the hotel but we had no problem. The approach road was somewhat hair-raising - very steep and with sharp bends - but then, I don't exactly have nerves of steel. With so little available space, parking a car is a nightmare. We opted to pay to park ours in the hotel's private space, which turned out to be next to the funicular. The funicular itself was excellent and takes you right down to the lakeside where there are lots of good restaurants and enjoyable walks. Breakfast at the hotel was simple but plentiful and the coffee (prepared properly on request) excellent. Unfortunately, we had no opportunity to sample the evening food as the chef had an accident on the day we arrived. She was very cheerful about it and we hope she is now fully recovered.

"Best view ever"

10.0

The hotel was lovely - and the view from our third floor lake facing balcony was excellent - would stay here again just for that . Was nice staying out of Como and the fenicular ride made the whole holiday experience more interesting. Room was small and basic but perfectly clean and comfortable.

"The Hotel Vista Lago- my husband's favorite stay"

10.0

My husband has declared Hotel Vista Lago his favorite stay on our trip. This lovely, small hotel is not for those who like a modern “box”. Because of the location the view of Lake Como is fabulous, both day and night. The funicular runs every 15 minutes, so getting back down to the lake is no problem. After a long travel day, we stayed on the mountain and had a wonderful dinner at a restaurant just South of the funicular station. Brunate is the type of small Italian town you hope to experience. The Hotel Vista Lago has a wonderful “Old World” feel with modern conveniences, a very decent breakfast, and friendly staff. We recommend it highly.

"stunning views"

10.0

nice clean old fashioned hotel in small village above como next to fenicular railway station and church ,access via very steep and narrow road or fenicular which runs til 12pm in summer . we arrived at linate airport in the evening ,so trains to como were infrequent , the hotel had kindly arranged transport for us direct to hotel so this was fantastic .trains run every 2 hours or so during daytime so this wouldn't be a problem. The view of the lake from our room's balcony was stunning ,do take the local bus from brunate station to the light house and then to car park in woods were bus turns round for even more stunning views and a snack in one of the local cafes, wonderful place would recomend it to anyone ,do bear in mind the hilly terrain ,you need to be fairly fit to makethe most of it on foot .

"Beautiful Views of Lake Como"

8.0

Lovely friendly hotel with a beautiful view of Lake Como. Vernicular Railway gives you easy access to Como town centre which is about a 3minute walk away. Parking isn't great as you have to pay to park your car in the secure car park which we didn't realise. The breakfast was ok but our room was very modern and clean with wifi internet access which was incredibly useful. It was also very lovely being right at the top of the hill in Brunate which afforded spectacular views of Lake Como.

"Hotel Vista Lago - you can see the lake!"

8.0

Once the front desk gal showed up and we got into our room, all was pretty good. The room was hot and we tried cranking up what we thought was the AC (turns out it was the heater) and then went out to explore. When we came back the room was SUPER hot. We called the front desk and they said the rooms don't have AC so we turned off the heater, opened all the doors and got things cooled down. We'd walked to the market and picked up food and wine which we enjoyed while watching the sunset from the balcony of our unit (we had #12). If you can get a higher floor it might help with some of the road noise and get you a better view. The bells from the church next door make sure you don't sleep in if you're a late sleeper. The walk to the Funiculare is just a couple minutes at most and the views and ability to see Como and the Lake that this vertical cable car offer are great for guests staying in Brunate. The included breakfast was great and the gal at the desk/bar makes your coffee to order - yes! The decor and condition of the hotel is fine. We had two centipedes in our room which was a bit weird, but part of the experience. Maid service was great. The beds were fine. If we go back to the area we'll probably stay lakeside, but not because this place wasn't good - just that we'd like to be nearer the water. Oh - the drive up/down to Brunate is not for the faint of heart and parking is limited... Visit Lake Como if you can - it's nice! This hotel was good the service was great and the little town was neat.

"Perfectly lovely"

8.0

Lovely little hotel, breakfast was very well laid out and the room very clean. All rooms face the lake and I know ours had a balcony too, the hotel is difficult to drive to but once there you can just take the fenicular rail to como and back. Check what time it stops so you don't have to take the 20 euro cab to the top. If the parking space for the hotel is full you need to park higher up in one of the pay spaces on the top of the hill so check about parking in advance. Great views and a very resonable room rate.
