Best Western Hotel De La Plage Saint Marc sur Mer

We specially booked this hotel because it had featured in the Jacques Tati film; M. Hulot's Holiday. Our 3-night stay was okay but very overpriced for what our experience entailed: the room was small with not much room to put our stuff anywhere, and it felt even more so as the toilet was separate to the shower/sink room (rather inconvenient) and the 2 doors were very intrusive in the bedroom. The staff were friendly and the breakfasts in the dining room were okay, but these did feel limited by the third morning and they did run out of component parts. Also, the hotel has to share the building with an independent restaurant, with the hotel's portion feeling cramped (no communal room, which was a disappointment when our room was too small to spend much time in of an evening). Our main criticism is that, since there would likely be many guests who'd booked because of the M.Hulot connection, there was precious little mention of this in the hotel or any such paraphernalia, with the only related pictures we could see being on the walls of the restaurant, which is named after him. All in all, a premium priced hotel with only average service/facilities to offer and we wished we'd have spent just one night there and then gone on to other accommodation while in the area.

We particularly appreciated the big terrace (facing the beach) with its pieces of furniture (2 sunbed/2chairs/1table) and the free car park. The staff was friendly and was able to answer all our questions. A kettle was also provided in the room.

The breakfast was expensive (16€) and poor for us (no vegetable, a few fruits only, no eggs except overcooked scrambled eggs from powder mixture. 80% wheat options with breads & viennoiseries & cakes & cereales. Also the room was small with 14m2 (we knew it before booking) but the room arrangement made it look/feel smaller (impossible to open a suitcase except on the bed).

Une grande terrasse avec vue mer imprenable en première ligne, chambre propre, tres bien équipée et confortable. Placement de l'hôtel impeccable. Parking sécurisé. L'accueil chaleureux.

La dimension de chambre et de lit /140cm/ pour deux personnes, pas vraiment confortable. Un petit frigo serait un plus.
