BJ Family House

Good location, close to the Kyoto central station and several bus stops close by. Front desk a small but fine since they house is meant few guests. Staff knew very little english, however it was not a big deal and they tried their best to help. Rooms and the house itself was japanese style meaning no beds, and total silence after 10pm. Floor of the rooms are made of bamboo which gives the "japanese smell", extremely pleasant smell. Loved it! No shoes allowed inside the house. No more than 8 rooms in the house. Steep stairs!

Room is smaller than expected. However, they have daily service for room cleaning and change of new towels.

It's more like guest house than a hotel. Had to move lugguage to 2nd floor on a maybe 45 deg sloping stair. The room is small and japanese style room. No TV and no fridge. Insulation is poor that I could hear outside traffic and ppl walking in corridor clearly. Hair dryer they provided to me was very dusty. The good thing of it is cheap price and staff can speak madarin.

A bit pricey for what you get. It is clean and secure. However, the room is very small. Staff was courteous.

Stayed for 2 nights and the hotel was just ok. This hotel is suitable only for single traveler especially the male because the toilet and the shower facilities were common and outside the room. Not suitable for ladies since they prefer these facilities inside the room. The cost wise, I found it was a bit expensive - may be $ 40 for the night is more appropriate.

We stayed there for only one night, and it was fine. Nothing special, but you get a clean room to stay in. Close to the station and close enough to the rest of the city if you rent a bike as we did.

Friendly staff. Convenient location close to Kyoto Station and some attractions. The room is very small but it is fine for me. To be considerate, I had to lighten my steps and shorten the time I used the toilet. If other customers do not bear this in mind, it would be quite disturbing!

The BJ Family House was a wonderful tatami style room very near to the Kyoto Station and a few walkable landmarks. Also very easy to access buses to see the sights. There is also a bicycle rental across the street.
