Hotel Sparerhof

The Sparer family offered a friendly environment with personal attention. It was a pleasure to stay here and have a fine, relaxing meal following a day of hiking and sight seeing. We wouldn't consider staying anywhere else when we return to this area, which we will.

The Sparerhof has several outstanding features. Foremost amongst these is the high level of personal service offered by the hosts Andreas and Gabi and Andreas' lovely parents. The cuisine is exceptional. The evening meal was stunning and breakfast was a delight. There is an excellent bar, a lovely pool area and plenty of shady nooks. So why is this a 3 star property? There can only be two reasons. The hotel is located in a pretty, South Tyrolean village so there are no town attractions on the doorstep. Proximity to the highway and a train station make it ideal for the business traveller. The tourist can enjoy the delights of Bolzano and Merlano as well as the spectacular mountain scenery. The rooms are small but adequate. They do, however, lack the refinements required of the higher rating. Install ceiling fans, Andreas, and I will give you an extra star. We had a great stay and will try to find a way to steal a weekend for the winter markets.

Very good location for visiting the area. The hotel was of high standard and the restaurant and food were very good. The staff were very helpful and all spoke English. There was a pool there but we only used the hotel for one night there for can not comment on its standard

Best place we stayed on our month-long vacation. Clean, quiet, comfortable, great breakfast, helpful hosts.

A very nice family run small hotel, Andreas the owner is a brilliant fellow and the food, cooked my his wife i suspect, was absolutely gorgeous. Just off the autoroute, the alps on your doorstep, this is a great staging point for exploring the area, it even has a lovely wee smimming pool. Whats not to like?

Well, not only is this a great place, right price, etc. etc. But the owners helped us plan our day (in perfect English) and really made the trip better than we could have managed by ourselves. What a warm welcome. Every American traveler should come here. I'm soooo happy.

This hotel is as-advertised; clean and worth it. It's about 10 minutes from Bolzano and tonly 1 minute away from freeway. They speak English, Italian and German there. There's ample dining in the area and a grocery store only 1 min walk away. Only negative is the beds are very firm. Overall a good deal.

Myself and my girlfriend stayed here as there was nowhere available in Bolzano, and I'm glad we did. we had a wonderful warm welcome and shown all the hotels excellent facilities. Following a quick bite to eat, prepared by the owner we went for a short walk up to a beautiful waterfall to stretch our legs, although the hotel would also have lent us bikes if we wanted. The view from our room was incredible and the room itself was very comfortable. The proprietors were extremely hospitable and even brought out a complete breakfast for us from the kitchens after we got up too late in the morning, which I greatly appreciated. They also gave us a free beer in the evening! This was a lovely stay in a very nice spot and I would recommend this hotel wholeheartedly.

I picked this hotel largely because of the glowing reviews that it got on this website, and they weren't wrong. The hotel is bright, clean, and lovely, with a charming little restaurant, bar, garden, and pool, in a quiet town just off the train halfway between Bolzano and Merano. The real high point, though, is the staff. Everyone was so kind and helpful. I concur with all of the other good things that people have said. This one is worth the little trip off of the beaten path.

We loved our stay at Sparerhof! We stayed for two nights, and despite our intentions of testing some local restaurants, we ended up eating at the hotel both nights, and the meals were excellent! The pasta is fresh and made in the house, superb vegetables and meats and fish, and a true espresso coffee...what else do you need? The room was at the second floor, very large with plenty of space in the wardrobe to accommodate a longer stay as well. The bathroom was spotless clean and very large too. The windows opened to the most breathtaking panorama of the mountains...just what you want to see when you get up :) The hosts were so very helpful and kind, not to mention very entertaining - it helped that they are all multilingual there, so we could switch all the time between Italian, English and German. If we are going back to the Stelvio Pass (what a road!) this is the hotel we're going to stay again!
