Sea Marge Hotel

The breakfast was exceptional with multiple choices as was the cold buffet. Although loath to use the same word again, housekeeping was exceptional. It is in a beautiful location on the cliff. The garden is well maintained and laid mainly to lawn. I had a deluxe room with a four poster bed. Although at first glance the mattress looked lumpy, I slept very well. The bathroom had clearly been recently updated and was stunning.

The public area is looking tired. I am not a fan of plastic plants, especially dusty ones, and felt they were unnecessary. The tables and chairs were out of place in a Hotel of this character. First impressions do count, and this is the first area you see upon arrival. It is clear however that money is being spent on improvements, so perhaps they will include this area. The remainder of the downstairs rooms are well decorated, and thoughtfully furnished. I liked the fact the hotel provides board games as well as outdoor ones. Loved the giant chess board!

Food was excellent, evening meal was the best hotel meal we have tasted for a very long time. Location excellent, out of town and plenty of parking, grounds nice and view over Overstrand good for photography. All the staff were very friendly and helpful

Access to plugs for charging batteries in bedroom was difficult could have done with more sockets.

4 of us visited the bar for 4 coffees and 1 ciabatta lunch 2 cappuccino were awful. Tasted like longline milk and very bitter. Americano was weak but bitter. A pot of coffee was provided which was almost drinkable. The menu stated ciabatta egg mayo cress and black pepper. What arrived tasted like coleslaw had been added to egg. On inspection the was no cress but onion and crispy lettuce. Non of which I can eat. No one came back to the table to say cress was off and offer the alternative! After a complaint, the meal was taken away. Still on the bill and asked again at the bar to write a note for chef. Won't go again

A group of friends stayed for a two nights New Year break. The rooms were cold. dark (due to inadequate lighting) Broken window that would not close and let in the cold North Wind. We would have expected, being a new year celebration break, the food at diner would and should have been a much higher standard but it wasn't - prety poor in fact. A forgetable experience, however the staff were great.

Another fantastic stay in this beautiful hotel. The room was lovely, food great and staff go above and beyond. Such a brilliant atmosphere for our 3 night New Year stay. The singer for New Year’s Eve was brilliant.

Lovely hotel with original features and decor in keeping with the properties age and location. Warm, cosy and inviting.

It’s not clear where the car park to the rear is and how to access it, especially in the dark.

Our second stay in 2025, in the Seabreeze 1 bedroom lodge at the rear of the hotel-this time over Christmas. We were pleased to find a Christmas tree in our lodge, complete with lights, along with a card, crackers and biscuits for our dog. The hot tub had been prepared for our arrival, but we didn’t brave it (the wind was bracing!) until the second night. The kitchen area had everything we needed for us to prepare our own Christmas meal, but we ate at the hotel in the bar area (dog friendly) on the following two nights-the food was top notch. We love the atmosphere at this hotel; warm, welcoming, peaceful. A special mention to Sophie who ensured everyone was well looked after-she’s a real star. Thank you Sea Marge for making our time away extra special. We will be back.

We stayed previously about ten years ago. To our surprise, this recent stay exceeded expectations. Staff were exceptionally good.
