Hyatt Place Fairbanks

I booked an extended stay at Hyatt Place Fairbanks from December 25 to 30, 2026, and throughout my entire stay, I relied exclusively on a rental car for all travel—never once using the hotel’s airport shuttle. This should have made it clear that I had no intention of abusing the service, yet what followed on my final night left me shocked by the hotel’s deception, disorganization, and unprofessional management (including General Manager Bonnie Todman and Assistant General Manager Marie Sopcakova’s team). For my December 30 stay, I even booked an extra night specifically to rest before my 3 AM international flight to South Korea. After dropping my daughter at the airport and returning my rental car, I took the shuttle back to the hotel. Later that afternoon, a friend was stranded due to an overbooked Alaska Airlines flight, which heightened my anxiety about my own journey. I decided to head to the airport early to check in (I couldn’t do it online without a US passport, per Delta’s confirmation), but the Delta counter wasn’t open until 10:45 PM—so I had to ride the shuttle back to the hotel. The real crisis hit at 11 PM, when I took the pre-scheduled shuttle to the airport. I had already checked my luggage with Delta, leaving only my carry-on baggage at the hotel (I planned to rest there before my flight, as I had four hours until takeoff). The female driver explicitly told me a shuttle would pick me up at midnight to retrieve my carry-on—but I waited until 12:40 AM, and no shuttle arrived. With my flight leaving in just over two hours, I called the hotel, only to be told I needed to re-request the pickup (contradicting the driver’s promise). To make it worse, the hotel lied and said the shuttle had already left—when in reality, it didn’t depart until 1 AM, delayed intentionally to wait for other guests. I was finally picked up at 1:20 AM, raced back to the hotel for my carry-on, and returned to the airport at nearly 2 AM—cutting it dangerously close to my flight. What’s even more disappointing is that the hotel’s management never reached out to me to address this issue directly. Instead, I learned through a friend that staff were privately accusing me of “abusing” the shuttle service. If they’d had any concerns, they could have simply asked—I would have happily taken an Uber instead of relying on their “reliable” shuttle service. For a hotel that caters to travelers with early/late flights, this level of deception and unprofessionalism is unforgivable. I would warn anyone with a tight flight schedule to avoid Hyatt Place Fairbanks at all costs—their shuttle service is untrustworthy, and their management fails to take responsibility for their mistakes or communicate honestly with guests.

The manager Alex is really awesome. Arrange the shuttle bus. The food, place is good. It is very convenient location, near everything.

Good place to stay but they need to get the bar & kitchen schedule worked out so they are open 7 days a week. Friendly helpful staff! Could be great with some improvements!!
