The Balavil Hotel Newtonmore - Restaurant, Bars & Swimming Pool

The hotel is well situated, easily accessible from the A9 and right next door to a coop if you need anything. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, you didn’t feel in any way like an inconvenience. The food in the restaurant and at breakfast was great. Although some of the dinner options were a little unexpected, e.g the haggis starter with a whisky and mustard sauce came in a kid of soup bowl, with the haggis in the middle surrounded by the sauce, almost like a soup. However, it tasted great so was good to have all that whisky sauce! Breakfast was great both days, all your cold stuff and a cooked to order menu too.

What a lovely find, was a total last minute booking and I’m so glad we did, every member of the team were lovely nothing seemed to much for them. Room was clean and obviously a new bathroom had been put in and looks great. We had breakfast and dinner all had been cooked fresh. Cannot fault anything at all and we will definitely be back. Thanks again for an amazing stay.

The staff were extremely friendly and efficient.

The beds were far too soft and i would have liked to have an armchair in room rather than dining chairs.

Friendly family owned hotel where all Staff were helpful, pleasant, friendly. Would stop and have a chat and recommend things to do when visiting Inverness or other areas Any problems were quickly sorted like not wanting paper cups in our room - they gave us cup & saucer, extra milk.etc. Porridge for breakfast. You only had to ask and they were soon on your case with a friendly smile and pleasant manner. They go above and beyond. Wonderful atmosphere, homely and comfortable. We stayed in room 5 and our only complaint was the floorboards creaking everytime you walked from the first bed to the bathroom, trying not to wake my aunt. Tried avoiding, but found it impossible.

Safe, but not secure, parking across the (quiet) Main Street. Staff were friendly and helpful, the room and bathroom were clean and well prepared. The breakfast was excellent, with plentiful healthy options to choose from.

Very basic rooms, not particularly clean. Breakfast food average, evening meal bland and not made with fresh ingredients. Gluten free options are sorely limited even with advance booking. Staff uninterested. Glad to get home.

Such a great little hotel in a cozy small village. Traveling with a friend and our plans got blown away by Storm Amy. We scrambled and found this hotel at the last minute, which was one of the best parts of the trip. Travel weary from hours of driving, we walked in and immediately received a warm greeting, given our room key, and offered dinner in the dining room. The food was so good my friend and I nearly cried. It reminded me of my grandmother’s cooking. The staff were professional and friendly and they even had singers in the bar for evening entertainment. I will definitely book at this place again when I travel to Scotland and always remember the good time I had here.
