Location, comfort and room near the pool

Unable to use the bath as plug didn't work, breakfast orders were often incorrect.

Myself and my friend stayed at Layalina for a week in January. We arrived to find that we had a double room, on the ground floor, rather than a twin, but we spoke to reception and they assured us that they would be able to change rooms the next day. And that is exactly what happened. We were moved from room 4 to room 1. The rooms were huge, with lots of space and storage. We really liked the little coffee area with the sink. The beds were super comfy with really good pillows. And the bathroom was amazing, nice powerful shower and a gorgeous big bath that had jacuzzi jets. And the view, I mean! Straight over the pool to the beach, absolutely beautiful. We were on a bed and breakfast tariff, which we chose the day before to be served on our room terrace each morning. Which again was just perfect, being able to look out over the beach while enjoying lovely omelettes, fresh fruit and toast. The hotel is accessed down a small alleyway, off the main strip in Kamala. But it was clean and tidy, and honestly like finding a hidden gem, the contrast from the busy street to the calm and serenity of the hotel was just lovely. And the staff of course were amazing! Nothing was too much trouble, the rooms were cleaned regularly and we even used the laundry service at the hotel. And it came back beautifully folded and smelling fabulous. Honestly I have nothing bad to say about this gorgeous, little boutique hotel.

I felt it was almost a scam, how this one can be a 4 stars hotel? 1. The hotel is very old and outdated see few example attached 2. Not that one needs a fancy lobby but 4 stars hotel with table and 2 chairs as “lobby” says it all…. 3. The pool is a joke, don’t believe the hotel formal picture it is 10 meters long and 2 meters wide top 4. There is no window or wall separation between the restroom and shower to the bedroom, just a wooden curtain. My wife and I needed ask the other to go out to the balcony each time one of us needed to use the toilet, ridiculous. 5. You must pre-order your breakfast and worse decide in advance when you wake up and what time you want your breakfast to be served. Who wants this on vacation?.,, 6. We needed another blanket, guess what not only they don’t have one the guy at the “front desk” (evening shift)doesn’t speak or read English. 7. The entrance from the main street was like going into a very shady place. See picture attached from google street, you won’t believe it. I can go on in my list but I think this is enough. My reviews are usually good but I had to set others expectations (BTW our friends paid the same rate in other hotel 200 meters from us and you can’t even compare. Eventually we spend the whole day with them…)

We were unsure when the taxi brought us here because it does not look much from main street. Once you enter it’s a pleasant surprise. You walk into a large simple reception area with stunning views of the ocean. Oh yeah this is on the beach. Not 50 meters not 20 meters but on the beach. Rooms are super spacious and very beautiful. You have your private balcony and we had our private roof top space as well with sun chairs and shower. Staff is very sweet as well.
