The Airman Hotel

When asked to change rooms, they obliged.

Absolutely awful! First impressions of The Airman Hotel were very basic, dated and untidy. No one was at reception when we came and had ring the landline to find someone, they then came and gave up our room key. As we entered our room, it was very obvious that it was a quick turn around from previous customers as the bed looked made but that was about it. We were running behind for an event so I had to quickly use the shower, luckily the towels and bath mat were clean so it did have staff change them, but once out the shower, we noticed the floor had not been hoovered and still had crumbs and other rubbish on. We then started to inspect the room as we thought this is not on! Taking a closer look, there was liquid residue on the sides, kettle and mugs were still dirty, curtains has liquids on them, the walls were covered with marks. We thought since we were only sleeping in the bed, should be fine. Once we got back from our event like 10:30pm, we were about to get into bed and notice the bed sheets, covers and pillow cases were dirty and had what appears to be make up on them, I immediately rang reception to complain and asked to change rooms to a CLEAN one. Luckily, once explain the situation they moved us to a clean and tidier room. Although the room was a lot cleaner and fresher, the bed was uncomfortable and just added to a really poor experience. We understand we only paid £60 for the room but you would still expect to have clean bedding and a clean room in general. Will not be staying here again!!

The location was ideal. Plenty of parking.

Saturday night so noise from restaurant was high.

Nice clean spacious well laid out room, Nice bed, good kettle. I have stayed before and I like the parking, location and price.

Nothing to stir the coffee or Tea, and nothing to remove the teabag with. The TV remote would not switch the TV on, but - The really disappointing bit was the bathroom floor was wet due to a plumbing leak from the cistern. I didn't discover this until very late and the staff had left. So I mopped up the floor, put down a glass to catch the drips and the bath matt in case of spillage. I also got up during the night to empty the glass, as I was worried a flood would leak down to the kitchen or dining room. I had to leave very early in the morning but phoned the staff around 8am to report the flooding. I noted some marks on the floor which suggested the leak had been ongoing for a long while. I will be staying again, but hope this items can be addressed for the future.

The combination lock on the side door did not work until several attempts. (About 20 minutes) !! Not ideal at 2am freezing cold.

Easy to find but that is about it

The television is way to small (you cant really see it from the bed) and old fashioned. Had to ask for two pillows as only one each, and very flat. No bedside cabinet so had to use an old stained chair. Not all lights worked. Only two tea bags and very minimal coffee supplies (had to go to reception at 5am but not manned). The toilet not fixed to the floor/wall and dangerous. The toilet roll holder is in such a silly place(behind you???) The plastic shower pole needs updating along with the whole bathroom. Very loud hotel, we were room 22 and what is underneath we don't know (only that the noise keeps you awake).
