Encore at Wynn Las Vegas

I was told the authorization hold would be $600, only to discover that $900 had been placed on my card. Management later admitted that their employee had provided incorrect information. When I expressed my frustration they didn’t show any respect and I said I wanted to leave, they told that I was free to do so, but my six-night payment would not be refunded. As an international guest, the way this situation was handled left me questioning whether all guests are treated with the same level of respect and consideration. Forced to stay, disappointed from day one. Five-star price, zero accountability, ZERO RESPECT. Think twice before booking.

The hotel is, on the surface, very good. The room is great, bathroom very clean, the elevators are fast, etc. The location is also good, for Vegas. (Nothing is truly walkable in Vegas - distances are deceiving because of the size of the buildings - but there is a mall right "beside" the Encore.)

They will nickel-and-dime you left and right. Open the mini bar to cool that water you brought? Charge. Pick up something from the room display just to see what it is? You bought it. 40 dollars.

This is a great place to stay. Housekeeping is excellent. One of the pools was shut because of high winds but, that is out of there control. Stayed in rm 1240 which needs new mattresses. They are starting to sag toward the nightstand. Other than that everything was perfect. Expensive but worth it.

Encore is close to many fun attractions, that why I originally picked it.

Sadly that was the mainly only positive thing. For a higher up-scale location, I thought I would be treated more, but at the end of the day, it’s your basic Vegas hotel, it seems. Any other place in the world, upscale luxury means celebrating your guests. We don’t get welcomed, there was not a free glass of champagne or chocolates or anything like that. We were greeted by a cold room that had an extremely expensive snack tray. One which we would never touch in 1000 million years. It’s a negative thing to try to scam us out of money for water and snacks inside our hotel room that we spent a considerable amount of money for. We even gambled a little bit downstairs. And unlike back home where if you’re gambling, the establishment might give you a free drink or something like that. No staff acknowledged us at all. The only staff that we ever interacted with was a greeter that was standing at a box scanning our card and every time we went to our room. And that more or less felt like security. That job could easily be replaced by just having people badge into their rooms, like normal hotels do via outside the elevator and inside the elevator. Super annoying that you can’t use a fridge and that every single thing like getting another fridge sent to your room or anything like that is an up charge. I haven’t gotten the final bill yet, but I suspect that there’s just gonna be random up charges for almost no reason. Also, our room was only clean once even though we specifically tried to make sure that the privacy setting was off as much as possible.
