Wyvern Hotel, an Ascend Collection Hotel

As road trippers making few reservations I, as the navigator, look for hotels within walking distance to decent food and a "town". The Wyvern satisfied both. A boutique hotel it is a refreshing change from the franchises. Our room was clean and comfortable. The location with a rooftop bar and the in house restaurant with tasty breakfast and good coffee was a plus.

The staff at the front desk was friendly and very helpful, even when I was checking in at midnight. The room was clean and comfortable. I did not try the food but the drinks and ambiance were great at the rooftop bar.

It still says on the website that you have a pool. You should probably change that.

Easy parking, big bathroom

Sewage stench in ground floor corridor heading to car park, and also outside our room on the 5th floor. Rooftop bar wasn't open, but it should have been according to the posters in the hotel. Checkout process/time not clear, checkin information said 10am, then I got an email to say tell us when you want to check out, and 11am was agreed option. 1pm would have cost $25, and that was the only clear bit. Lighting in the room was insufficient, especially as it was cloudy outside so no sunshine to help brighten the room

Rooms were very complicated.
