"Good value and location for a basic service."

6.0

Good location close to all areas of interest. No real parking, only 2 spots in a back courtyard that are unlikely to be available. Parking is on the street, paid until 6-7 pm , free until 9 am. The room was adequate for 3 people, clean and bathroom recently renovated but with a slight drain smell. The pillows could do with an improvement. We were on the 3 rd floor and unfortunately there were no lifts. OK if you can manage own luggage easily, would not recommend if you are elderly or have young kids with strollers/ prams.check in and out with no problem. We declined the breakfast, now up to 7€60, as there are a number of bakeries and coffee shops nearby. It was very good value and the staff quite helpful, but be aware of limitations. Rouen was an intereesting city, very helpful tourist office and obviously looking forward to the Tour de France parties the day we left.

"Additional Costs?"

6.0

The owners were exceptionally helpful and friendly. The rooms were being updated and refurbished whilst we were there (virtually whilst we were in them!). I would just like to point out that you have to open up an additional window on the description of the hotel (under view any non mandatory fees) to find out that breakfast is NOT included. I just read the overview which stated that the breakfast is "copious". This therefore makes this only two star hotel a lot of money although I suppose you are paying for the convenience of staying in the middle of Rouen. Also there are only four or five tv channels not what you would expect from the description. If they said only a few then that would be fine but I think it is best to be clear and honest about these things. There is also a rather petty 3,20 city tax on your bill which they could really absorb or again just tell you.

"Convenient, Friendly, Noisy"

6.0

Very close to the center of town; a few hundred feet from the plaza in front of the cathedrale, and about a ten minute walk from the Vieux Marche/Jeanne d'Arc church. Rouen is small, so you can walk anywhere from this hotel in a short time. No parking available, but a lot is nearby for about 9 Euros a night. Staff is very friendly, a French national who speaks excellent English (lived in the US for awhile) and his wife, a charming woman whose eastern tastes are evident in the lobby decor. Steep stairs, peeling wallpaper in the hallways, but the rooms are clean. The main complaint is the noisiness, which is the price for being centrally located: two bars/nightclubs close by with loud voices lasting until about 1 AM. Closing the windows blocks the noise, but then it's warm (at least in the summer). Excellent big breakfast...big cups of coffee, granola, cheese, jambon, croissants, etc...if you're not interested in walking to the boulangerie for a baguette. As long as you're a heavy sleeper, this is a fine and inexpensive place. Nice for my family as well, since we had two separate beds for my big teenage daughter and son.

"Stay here"

10.0

This hotel is a few minutes walk away from the touristy area. The people there are very friendly. The breakfast is serve-yourself, all-you-can-eat, and very good. I don't think there's an elevator, but I was only on the 3rd floor. Everything there is very nice. The bed was comfortable. Stay here!!!!
