Hotel du Vin & Bistro Cheltenham

Although the property was undergoing some renovations it was still very quiet. I love the location being central to everything in Cheltenham.

I'm sorry but my experience wasnt a good one. The room ( Villia Maria ) was at the very back and top of the hotel in the attic with slanted ceilings ( I felt hidden away ) and had no working air conditioning..after a very hard day this was not what i needed..an absolute furnace.. I picked the hotel based on its brand reputation and it was far from the cheapest in Cheltenham and it badly disappointed..Albeit I only booked a classic room but i would have expected it to be clean, with upto date furnishings ( everything was a bit chipped and battered) and to have working air-condition.. these things are the basics.. the staff knew about the problem but hadn't fixed it. The building itself is beautiful but the hotel rooms are awkwardly located through a labyrinth of staircases..at a few points you have to go up stairs just to then go down again and up again... Far from relaxing and a complete let down.. I enquired about room upgrades as I was so unhappy and uncomfortable ( at whatever cost ) and was offered nothing. As an ex travel agent of 15 years I know quality and an excellent experience when I see it.. and this just wasnt...

We have stayed here before some years ago. Location is excellent as is the breakfast. Few issues with our newly refurbished room but came to an agreement over rate charged.

Fabulous staff, but the best thing was the food. Hache frite was beautiful with a lovely salad and perfect skinny chips. Brekkie was sublime-avo on toast with poached eggs and a yasty tomato and onion salad. Yum.

We liked the building & location. We didn't like the fact that due to recent renovations, half the hotel had water turned off, including our room, and the receptionist needed to access our room with his key as the internet/server was down & he couldn't say when it would be reconnected. We left the hotel immediately.

This is a hotel that is relying on former glory. The room was a little tired, although very clean. A lot of the services that Hotel du Vin provided prior to covid haven’t really returned - nothing in the mini bar, for example. The bar closed at 9.45 without any communication from the staff even though we were sitting having a drink.

A lovely hotel situated close to the centre of Cheltenham. The staff were all extremely friendly and welcoming. There was some refurbishment work going on in the hotel but this wasn’t detrimental to our stay in any way with it being well managed. Parking is limited but £10 for on-street parking outside was fair and convenient. The room was well presented and clean. A very enjoyable stay.

Lovely decorated and features,Room was large and clean.The sofas and carpet in longe area needed a good clean/hoover.Also inside the bedroom wardrobe was where the fridge and Milk/coffee/tea kept was too warm the milk was off.Staff was friendly,good location.

£6 for 10 olives!! Bathroom was VERY tired; broken toilet roll holder, bath plug and cracked washbasin. Wine list limited - for a Hotel du VIN !!! Oregon Pinot Noir given whereas was New Zealand on the menu. Not up to the standard that the chain used to offer

Customer service levels are off the chart here - exceptional service.
