Gilbert Inn Seaside

Perfect place to stay on our cross country trip to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. Loved the easy access to the beach with our dogs.

Breakfast was good but the best was value for the location close to the beach. Especially the historic Gilbert Inn! It was very fascinating. We had a great time.

A little noisy as it is after all an old building. Stairs creak and doors creak. Not much in noise insulation.

Mysigt hotell i en gammal fin villa. Fint rum, gott om plats. Trevlig och välskött trädgård. Bra frukost. Helt nära stranden.

Stora hus byggda mellan hotell och stranden, för övrigt var allt perfekt!

Nice place to stay. Although very basic, the buffet continental breakfast was fine. Good value for the money.

Location to the beach is awesome. Bed was newer and comfortable. Much appreciated gluten free options at breakfast and didn't expect a buffet. We stayed in the turret room, part of the original house. We get it, it's an old classic house, but when the lamp in our room shakes because someone is walking down the hall it's a 4 not a 5 for the stay. We had good neighbors, but sharing the house with the wrong group of people could be a disaster. I might lean towards one of the main floor rooms. In the future we will probably spend more for one of the other housing options, but glad we stayed at the Gilbert Inn.

Not as well kept as we remember. Breakfast use to be better. Couldnt get connection on tv.

The entire Inn was quaint, well kept, and wonderfully laid out. It was welcoming, beautifully designed in a historical setting and quiet. Much of the furnishings from the era of the when Seaside was established. Loved the outdoor garden setting & gas fireplace. Short walk to ocean shore & activities.

We were greeted at the door by a very nice young man who told us about breakfast, parking, etc. We chose the Addie room which is up a flight of stairs. If you are disabled this would not be the best choice. There are rooms on the main level that would be better. We liked the Addie room. It was very clean and had a window that could be opened which was very helpful since it was warm and there is no air conditioning in the building. Our room faced the ocean but there wasn't a view due to buildings on the street in front of us. The bathroom was very roomy. I would suggest grab bars in the shower and also a ledge to put soap, etc. on. They offered a very nice breakfast in the morning. They also had a fire pit outside the front door with chairs for relaxing. We walked to a nearby restaurant for dinner. Overall, this was a good choice for us and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Seaside. The only other suggestion I have it for the management to dim the hall lights at night. The lights stay on all night, and due to the age of the building, the doors are old and let a lot of the light in making it difficult to sleep if you are light sensitive.
