Easy to see why this property gets such amazing reviews! Lots of parking right outside (ensure to request a virtual parking permit in advance) - fabulously clean, room with an incredibly comfy bed (really important to both of us due to back issues). Shared bathroom no issues, spotless and no waits even tho the property was fully booked. Breakfast absolutely fantastic, people lovely, and a very short walk to the city walls thru the park. We will be back - fabulous stay - thank you!!

Family-run guest house with a warm welcome. Easy check-in, clean and quiet room with a comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast. Walkable from the rail station and the centre of town - both about 15-20 minutes away along roads where I felt safe. I would happily stay there again.

I loved my time here. It's a very comfortable guest house, my room was small, but absolutely suited to my needs, larger rooms are available for more than 1 traveller, reasonablypriced, too. The staff is also small, but so helpful, friendy and polite. Its located in a lovely quiet area, with a reasonable walk to the city but manageable if you have no mobility issues, but taxis or buses are easy to come by. I enjoyed my weekend immensely and would encourage others to follow suit. *****

Stayed 2 nights in single room Arrived via Train, found Railway Station Excellent easy walking distance to Property & into York City. Hostess Helen was very warm & friendly. The Farthings was spotlessly clean. Single room, although small was very well equipped. Breakfast offered lots of choice, cooked with quality produce. If I stayed again in York, definitely would consider booking.

Great breakfast and people. You need to ask for a parking space when you book.(not mentioned elsewhere) Also ask for heat to be turned on in your room. Or it's quite cold. Lastly an electrical shower no real pressure, it's a fiddle if you've never seen one before.Good food nearby as well

Lovely cosy room in an immaculately kept property. Breakfast was outstanding too. 10 minute walk to the city centre yet nice and quiet. The perfect spot. Thank you for a wonderful weekend.

Good location, just a short walk into the city. Nice breakfast and more than enough parking just outside. Only complaints were a very soft bed (personal preference) and a shower that lacked pressure.

Nice place, check in was easy with the lockbox and easily accessible. On street parking was fine, quite a few spaces and on a fairly quiet street. Room was good, slightly old fashioned/not the most modern, but the bed was comfortable and the room was a good size. The choice of teas/coffees and biscuits in the room was a nice touch. The shower was a bit weak. Breakfast was ok, nice choice although not the best pancakes ever.

Lovely rooms with well made beds- provided plenty of warmth which is good since middle of February is quite cold. Brilliant location, within sensible walking distance of city centre and the station with reasonably safe walking routes to both, but without the downside of all the noise since it’s in a more residential area allowing for a better nights sleep versus the big brand hotels on the main streets. However, the real standouts are the wonderful owners who were very helpful and understanding throughout my stay and the quality breakfasts (the pancakes and the sausage sandwich were great). When I booked, I was moderately worried about shared bathrooms for my room but these turned out to be very clean at all points in the day so was not an issue, plus having a choice of 2 is very handy in case one is in use- never had to wait for one to become available. All in all very glad I booked a stay here, will now be the first place I check availability for on future visits to York. Thank you for the great stay.

We had a double room with en-suite shower and toilet. It was very clean, well-equipped, comfortable and quiet. The breakfast was excellent with lots of options and a lovely "full English" as well. Parking needed to be requested prior to arrival and Helen then arranged for an online permit that allowed us park in the street outside. That went very smoothly. It took only about 20mins to walk to the city centre with numerous different routes to choose to do so which allowed us to explore even more. The city of York itself is fabulous and we enjoyed seeing in the New Year there. I would highly recommend The Farthings and we will go there again when we next visit York.
