Comfortable

Excellent breakfast and owner. Able to use kitchen facilities too. Very good, thoughtful tea/coffee tray in room, with milk type choices.

Poor value; single occupancy of a small double room £150 was unwarranted which I feel would still have been too expensive if there had been two of us. The road was surprisingly busy and noisy overnight but friends said the garden facing rooms were quiet. That said, clean, convenient and nice owner.

It is very dated and in need of decorating. The bathroom was very old.

Very dilapidated house with toilet that doesn’t flush and a shower that trickles alternate very hot and cold water is not acceptable. Charles, the owner and his breakfasts were good.

Not acceptable for B and B style of accommodations. Needs major upgrades / renovations.

On arrival, the owner was not present, but a clear note had been left with instructions on where to find the keys and how to access the property. This was well organised and straightforward. I met the owner upon departure, and they were pleasant and courteous. I also met with a guest who had lived there for the last 22 years who informed me where everything was.

The single room did not contain a standard-sized single bed. Instead, it was only 2ft 6 wide rather than the usual 3ft, and this was not mentioned in the description. The bed frame was dusty, and the bedside light did not work. Although the sheets were white and appeared clean, there were small critters visible on top of them. Overall, the room felt very tired and neglected. The shared bathroom was frankly unacceptable. No cleaning products were provided for guests, and the sink still had hair shavings left in it. The shower was simply a hose attached to the wall above the bath, producing only a weak trickle due to being broken at the base. It reached no higher than about 5ft, making it impractical for washing hair. The bath itself was dirty, with most of the enamel worn away, which made it look even worse. Bathing was not an option. The bathroom window faced directly onto the main road, with clear glass and a broken, dirty blind that offered only partial privacy. Overall, the accommodation felt poorly maintained and was definitely not worth the money. It is disappointing, as I am a regular visitor to the area, but I will not be returning. I did mention the shower issue to the owner upon departure, and he said he would add it to his list of jobs.

The welcome back

A lovely guest house that we have stayed in before. The lovely host recognized us and that meant a lot. We had a lovely welcome and a great 2 night stay. Unfortunately we did not see the host as we left to say thank you. They do a great breakfast :)

There wasn't an iron in the room - this would have been appreciated. However it didnt say there was one, I just presumed.

The location was perfect for what we wanted. And there was parking for our car. Room, bedsheets and towels were clean

The property is quite old and tired. The pictures flatter the house. There’s nothing fundamentally wrong with the guest house but it’s simple and basic.
