The Royal Inn

The location was good close to the station and a short walk into Par. It had gone downhill since last time we stayed 3 years ago.

The hotel reception was closed and we had to go to the bar to check in. We were also asked to pay in advance, never a good sign! We booked a king room, but I not sure the room we had fitted that description. The view was overlooking the bins and a refrigeration unit below was running all the time meaning we had to keep the window closed. Although some recent painting had been done, it had an aura of scruffiness with weeds growing around and glasses still outside not collected from the previous night. No hanging baskets to brighten the place up. The men's toilets off the bar had a mop bucket under one urinal and lots of blue towel roll left screwed up around the basin because there was no bin to put it in! Breakfast had to booked in advance and wasn't available on Sunday morning and although we didn't book it on Monday when we left at 8:30 everything was locked up and no way to pay for the meals we had on Saturday night. So I guess it wasn't available again on the Monday morning.

Lively pub on carnival day in Par. Large room and bathroom (suitable for disabled). Good pub food.

Location further off coast path than expected. No breakfast on Sunday (though not a concern for me).

Clean with friendly staff and landlady was very helpful. Very clean with lovely rooms. With literally 2 minute walk from the train station

Great hotel, perfect location for a concert at the Eden Project. We loved the beer garden, very reasonably priced drinks. Staff were lovely and helpful.
