The Black Swan

Had a lovely overnight stay on way home from a trip further south. Although not in a densely populated area it is well worth a visit. Menu choice worthy of top notch hotel and tasted great. Breakfast was an absolute feast in the morning. Spoilt for choice and so fresh.

Good country Pub/Hotel. We stayed on one of the rooms that back on the carpark, so not an inspiring view, so would insist that we stay in the main hotel next time (but we still had a nice room). We eat in the evening in the bar area, but you can have the same menu as the restaurant. Food was very good, service was very good and the choice of local ales was excellent. We travel to Scotland a lot and this is our prefect stop over to break the journey up. We had the last seat in the bar area on a rainy Monday night, so if you are coming over the weekend, I would book!

Friendly staff in lovely surroundings. Food excellent and plenty of it!! Would have loved to stay longer.

Fabulous place to stay lovely family business run by really helpful people. Food is excellent both evening meal and breakfast could not be faulted, but beware if you stay for a long period I dread to think how much weight you would put on!! The breakfast is huge saved us eating for the rest of day. We would certainly return. Thanks for a great overnight stop.

Lovely friendly hotel. Smart, spacious bedrooms. Good food reasonably priced. Very friendly atmosphere. Very well placed for walking.

The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were all pleasant and helpful. Food in restaurant was good and the breakfast was marvellous. Our room was over one of the bars but we heard no noise whatsoever and slept really well. Piping hot water for a bath after a walk and fresh milk for our tea. Even a jar of sweets on the dressing table.

We stayed for 2 nights in July. Our double room was small but nicely decorated with a modern en-suite. It was warm but only one of the windows opened with the others painted in. The only suggestion I would make would be to ask for more drawer space in the room and maybe a hook on the bathroom door and a shelf to put washbags on, we struggled to find anywhere to put anything down and had to use the chair in the room and the toilet cistern in the en-suite. The breakfast was very good with plenty of choice and even strawberries on offer, good service here also. We dined in the bar and enjoyed the food. Plenty of walks available in the area. We will return again.

Lovely two day stay.This is a well run friendly hotel the food is excellent and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly and can't do enough for you.The riverside garden is lovely. We highly recommend the Black Swan
