Host & Stay - The Arches Country House

The property is lovely, we have stayed three times, same owners. Very helpful

It is now 8 weeks since our stay and despite me chasing on a daily basis I still have not received the deposit I paid of £250. Booking.com give the same response that they’re looking into it. I don’t know who has my money - either the arches, host and stay or booking.com but I want it back. Although the house has served our friendship group well over the three times we have stayed I would not book again

Ample space for a large family. Safe environment for children with a grassed area next to the hottub. The bedrooms were large with good sized en suites.

Communication with booking.com/ host&stay was appalling, requested information in January still hadn't been answered when we went in April. The day before I had to ask for the access code, then got a phone call asking for more money! I didn't pay, but reported to the owner who was shocked at the lack of communication.

Only slight issue in most rooms with the water in the bath

This house was amazing there were 24 of us staying here for a birthday. Chris the owner was brilliant always there to answer questions when needed. Had a power cut due to storm, he came with candles for us. The facilities inside the house were great too. House very clean and tidy!

Beds were slightly uncomfortable but did not ruin our stay

Perfect for a group of friends. Good facilities and loads of rooms. Good location.

The Arches country house was amazing. We visited as a large family ages from 9 to 83. The facilities for everyone were fabulous from the hot tub to the pool table/bar area and the quiet tv area. The large kitchen and dining room were superb and the bedrooms were spacious and all had en suite. We had sunshine for the whole weekend, taking walks around the house and to the cliffs edge to visiting Whitby and saltburn, The Arches was a fantastic base and we would highly recommend.

lots and lots of space, even though there was 21 of us it didn't ever feel like we were ever on top of one another.

An excellent location for our weekend away with a large group of friends. We were met at the property by the housekeeper who gave us her number for emergencies and told us where she could be reached if we needed her. She was very friendly, wished us the best weekend and said she wouldn't bother us again. The accommodation was spotlessly clean, all the bedrooms had baths and showers, shower gel and towels. The rooms are split between the main building and outside on ground level which was brilliant for a couple of people in our group with mobility issues. The large kitchen was well equipped with 3 fridges and 2 freezers, cooking facilities and washer/dryer. Sachets of coffee/milk and teabags are provided, as are dish cloths, tea towels, washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets. The entertainment areas were open plan but big enough that we were able to carry out different activities in each area without interfering with others. The large hot tub was also spotlessly clean and we were given instructions on how to use it. The location was amazing, being in the middle of the golf course but within walking distance of the local pubs and shop and onto the cliffs and down to the beach (although it is a steep climb up and down to the beach). The beach is also accessible by car within a 10 minute drive as is Saltburn by Sea. Whitby, Guiseborough and Redcar are all accessible within a 40 min drive. My husband accidentally left his drone in the room but the host sent a text informing us and we were able to nip back and get it! Nothing was too much trouble.

Not a problem with the venue but if in a large group and wanting a takeaway maybe do a little research first as we had trouble getting any to complete the large order and none were able to deliver so we had to go and fetch it. In hindsight we may have ordered earlier for a preset time. JUST TO NOTE THIS IS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE VENUE.
