Property Notes

The Mowbray features the Eastbourne Visitor Passport scheme, offering guests discounts in restaurants, attractions and shops in Eastbourne. There is plenty of such parking all around The Mowbray. Parking Permits are available on request. These provide parking all day and until 11:00 the following morning for just £3.50 per day. In conformity to UK legislation The Mowbray is a no smoking property and only has nonsmoking rooms. We guide our guests to the nearest smoking area if needed. Unfortunately a charge of £150 is added to any account where this has been breached. As The Mowbray is In our delightful late Victorian or early Edwardian historic building there are some limitations for those with severely reduced mobility. The doors do not allow for wheelchairs use, the front door is up a few steps and the breakfast room is accessed by stairs, but for those with more mobility there are 2 good handrails at the entrance and the breakfast stairs, a elevator goes to all bedrooms from the entrance floor and every ensuite, has a walk-in shower. We can serve a limited breakfast in the guest lounge if the breakfast stairs prove impossible.Please inform of your expected arrival time in advance. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly using the contact details in your confirmation. Guests under the age of 18 can only check in with a parent or official guardian. This property does not accommodate bachelor(ette) or similar parties. A deposit may be required at the property.

The size of the room and location.

Only 1 small towel each, no towel to stand on getting out the shower, no shelving in the shower so no where to put shower gel etc whilst washing, only 1 toilet roll, stained mattress, bits of rubbish by the bed and behind sofa.

Staff member [Mohammed], respectful and welcoming. Did not have breakfast at the hotel.

TV in our room did not work. Appears the previous guests may have taken the remote control. Mohammed helped but was unable to resolve the issue. Helpful that a return visit at no cost was promised on our next visit to Eastbourne by way of compensation.

"Just a good hotel for location"

The location was convenient for local amenities and the bed was comfortable. Good selection of complimentary toiletries.

I didn't feel the accommodation lived up to its star rating, the room seemed small considering it was a triple and could use some updating. Unfortunately we didn't have any cold water, so we couldn't flush the toilet or use the shower during our stay, I appreciate this was no fault of the hotel, apparently it was due to a local water outage, but I had to contact the owner to find this out for myself, I feel the hotel should have informed us of the issue.
