Bankes Arms Hotel

A. A very old hotel pub. Welcoming staff. Double bedroom spacious and comfortable. Only problem for two of was garlic in most foods. We are both allergic to garlic.

Corfe Castle is small but beautiful and the Bankes Arms is conveniently situated in the heart of the town, with a car park at the rear. We stayed in the Eleanor room at the front, which was a good sized room, with a comfortable bed. The shower head in the bathroom was bit temperamental, sliding down the pole if not in exactly the right position, but otherwise all fine. The room was noisy during the evening, especially on the Saturday night, as sound travelled up from the bar below and there was a surprising amount of traffic from the road outside, but this wasn't unexpected, given we were staying in a pub/hotel. There was a kettle, tea etc in the room (including coffee bags) but sadly no biscuits. However, with the bakery across the road we 'managed' fine without! We ate in the hotel on the first evening - good service and good food (fish & chips/burger/ sticky toffee pudding and an excellent creme brulee) of which there was plenty. Breakfast had to be pre-ordered the evening before and was cooked fresh - the poached eggs were perfect. All the staff were lovely, and credit must go especially to the lady in charge of breakfast who was having to contend with it raining inside from different locations both mornings - a drawback to working in an old building. We would definitely go back!

Room overlook side & main road, lots of traffic noise.

Ideal position for Corfe Castle visit and Kimmeridge fossil centre and Jurassic coast. Friendly and helpful staff and management. Food excellent.

Bankes Arms is a great Inn/Hotel. Clean, neat rustic rooms and excellent services and staff. And- a short walk to Corfe castle and the very cool steam train service.

Staff generay polite, service extremely slow. Facilities relating to room often didnt work or were missing completely. Coffee machine didnt work so when we went for dinner we spoke to a member of staff who said they would attend to it but didnt and we gad to ask another member of staff for a kettle in the end. Sink plug jammed do couldnt empty. Internet didnt work unless loaded in the bar. Shortly after returning to room connection was lost. We ordered our meal which took over an hour to appear. Similar situation with breakfast. Booked as requested, for 8.30am. Member of staff didnt appear until 9.00am and we waited in excess of 25 minutes for our pre ordered meal to appear.
