Residence Inn by Marriott Hattiesburg

The door was very hard to open going in and out. We had to get help opening.

We stayed for 3 days. The hotel staff were the very best. The front desk, housekeeping and food prep personnel were excellent, exceptionally friendly and professional. The sofa sleeper was terrible (mattress was the worst mattress in the world), but the roll away beds offered were excellent. It’s not the staffs fault that the sofa sleeper mattress is worthless. Come on management, you have an excellent staff, give them the tools (mattresses) that show you value your customers.

This is my second time to come eith my mom; everything us just lovely!

Overall my stay was great, but they need bigger trash cans. The one under the kitchen sink is same size as the bathroom trash can. Leftovers from a restaurant left one trash can overflowing. Considering it has a full kitchen, bigger trash cans is warranted.

I found signs of insects, including at least one live insect on the mattress. I was concerned that this might be a sign of bed bugs or other concerns and went to the front desk, where I was advised to leave the items in the room to prevent spread and was offered another room, which also showed signs of concern on the mattress. I used an image search to check the images, and it seemed to show reason for concern. Ultimately, I was able to move to another hotel and was offered a partial refund, but I had several concerns that others might be exposed to issues. The hotel did say they called their pest control & did not find anything in any of the rooms I was assigned, but I wanted to share the images to ensure that others were aware of the concerns and can make an informed decision. Other than losing some luggage and items out of an abundance of caution and having to transfer hotels after midnight, in the grand scheme of things it worked out, but I did want to make sure others were aware as I would hope others would post their concerns as well. While this did cause concerns about the hotel’s brand overall, I did exchange messages with the manager, which echoed much of this post, and the response was that "there was no evidence of vermin in any of our rooms" despite the images & concerns I shared. I share this review then only to ensure others are aware with the photos of the live insects, remnants of molting, and insects in the laundry room I took, & the Google image results.

We liked the location, it was close to our event. I didn't like that our room needed maintenance on the very loose shower head and the faucet in the tub. Also, the sofa in our suite had spots that made the sofa look unclean.

This was the cleanest room and hotel I’ve ever had the pleasure to visit. The price was comparable and actually a bit less than neighboring hotels. I loved that I could visit the grocery store or even order delivery and cook over my long weekend stay. All staff were friendly and helpful.
