Hotel Palace Portoroz by Minor Hotels

The hospitality was really great. Staff was very nice. Breakfast was very yummy with lots of options.

They didn’t have their cabanas as shown on the website setup near the beach. This is ultimately why we booked here. It was pretty disappointing and should have been noted when we booked. The value without this is not worth it.

This hotel recently ended its partnership with the Kempinski hotel chain, and unfortunately, the difference is clearly noticeable. The new operator, Minor Hotels under the Minor Reserve Collection, is officially expected to launch in 2027. However, it is disappointing that while charging the same premium rates, the level of service and overall experience of a five-star hotel has already declined so significantly. The most noticeable issue is the lack of staff. Waiting times for valet service have become considerably longer, whether dropping off or retrieving a car. At the front desk, there is often only one employee assisting guests, and despite the hotel appearing noticeably less busy than in previous years, staffing levels still seem insufficient. Additionally, during our stay only one elevator was operating. While not a major issue on its own, this is simply not the standard expected from a five-star property. Several elements that once defined the luxury experience have also been reduced or removed. One of the restaurants was closed, pool service no longer offers the same attentive food and beverage experience, and housekeeping now arrives noticeably later in the day compared to previous stays. Breakfast deserves special mention. Unfortunately, the selection is weaker than in previous years, and guests are now expected to fetch much more themselves, which takes away from the comfort and level of service expected at this standard. This is a significant drawback. That said, we would especially like to praise the younger lady working at breakfast service, who was outstanding — professional, attentive, and truly delivering the level of hospitality one would expect from a luxury hotel. Even the smaller details reveal the change. The shower gels and shampoos are of lower quality, the amenity kits feel basic, the minibar selection is more limited, and even the maintenance of the surrounding gardens and park areas lacks the attention to detail that was once so evident. Overall, this property feels noticeably downgraded compared to last year under the Kempinski hotel chain. We understand that transitions take time, but lowering standards while maintaining five-star pricing is difficult to justify. We sincerely hope this is only a transitional phase and that the hotel will soon return to the level of excellence and attention to detail that once made it truly stand out.

De airco in de gym was nog 'under construction', het was er te warm. Ook wel jammer dat de strandruimte van het hotel nog niet was ingericht terwijl het bepaald strandweer was, en het hotel mede om die reden was gekozen.

Amazing location with seaside views but that's we paid and booked for my 60th birthday celebrations with my daughter.

Unfortunately 2 sleepless nights as the air-conditioner in our room was not working while doors were closed or open. Technician sent. He was there briefly. Following night 1230am we were given a room to move into without our luggage just to get a sleep before we checked out at 745am. I'm hoping we have not been charged for parking as compensation for the inconvenience. I'm still awaiting a receipt as a large bond was taken. Could you please look into this matter for me.

We had high expectations for Hotel Palace Portoroz given its five-star designation, but our stay fell well short of that standard in ways that were difficult to overlook. Our room was located in the older section of the hotel, and the air conditioning was simply not functioning properly. Upon arrival, the thermostat was set to 19°C, yet the room felt noticeably warm. We contacted the front desk twice to request assistance. On both occasions, staff reset the thermostat — ultimately allowing us to lower it to 16°C — but the room never actually cooled down. We spent our final night in Slovenia, a special trip celebrating a milestone birthday, in an uncomfortable and sleepless room. What compounded our disappointment was the response from the staff. When we raised the issue with both the front desk attendant and the duty manager, neither offered an apology or any gesture of goodwill outside of a free bike rental and car parking (1 night). The interaction was cold and dismissive — the opposite of what you’d expect from a property at this level. For context, every other hotel we stayed at during our Slovenia trip — ranging from two to four stars — provided warmer hospitality and more comfortable accommodations. We also noted, after the fact, that other reviewers have reported similar issues with the air conditioning at this property, suggesting this is not an isolated incident. We regret that we are unable to recommend Hotel Palace Portoroz. A five-star experience is defined as much by how staff handle problems as by the facilities themselves — and on that measure, this hotel fell significantly short.

The AC was not working properly
