"Relaxing with real chocolate!"

10.0

Great place to unwind and relax. The Cacoa plantation farm was really interesting. The tour given by Paulo was informative and interesting. We learnt a lot about chocolate, its production, history and what makes real chocolate!

"Cacao lovers paradise"

10.0

Wonderful experience on a beautiful organic ranch that includes a full cacao production. CR Owners were fully involved in all aspects of the operations, sharing their passion for their country and their work with all of their guests. Remote location in Ricon de Vieja rainforest, the owners were happy to help plan activities hiking, horseback riding, cacao tour, zip lining, and more. Facilities were simple and kept in pristine condition. We learned so much during our stay. What a wonderful introduction for these first time visitors to CR.

"Remote and Lovely"

10.0

Very remote but very beautiful. The cabins are clean, spacious and modern. The food is basic but very good. The hosts are kind and caring. A great place to relax and enjoy the environment - very low key. Works well also for those willing to travel an hour or so to explore the area. Very peaceful.

"Unique and authentic "

10.0

We enjoyed every minute of our stay in this rainforest lodge that is located just outside a small village. The lodge is remote and basic but also quiet, peaceful, very clean and comfortable. Anna and Pablo are excellent hosts--they greeted us warmly each day and helped us plan our days when we asked. We did a wide range of activities and ate well every morning and night at the lodge. The other guests were delightful. We loved watching for birds while eating breakfast and finding constellations after dinner. This was a perfect vacation for us.

"Great Getaway"

10.0

This is a wonderful place to get away from everything, connect with nature and good people and relax. The ranch is beautiful and the owners are wonderful! My only feedback is to know going in that your options for food in the area are somewhat limited. (This place is not easy to access, even in a car, because of all the unpaved roads. Luckily La Anita has signs to direct you.) They make excellent fresh food on the ranch, but it's not cheap. (We had an additional $200 charge for a few dinners and breakfasts added to our bill, which I had not budgeted for. I think dinner was about $14 per person, which is quite high in this area! But again, the food was very good so it's tough to really complain...) Overall, a wonderful stay.

"Great experience!"

8.0

La Anita was not what we expected but we loved it. It's a little like going away to camp. The cabins are gorgeous and so clean but be warned...they have screens rather than windows. Sleeping was a challenge at times due to the noise. The hammock on the porch was amazing as was the food and the hosts.

"Quiet, bucolic getaway"

8.0

We stayed 2 nights in this beautiful, bucolic setting. We didn't have a rental car (as most other patrons do) but called ahead and they gave very nice detailed instructions re how to get there by bus. One of the owners was there to pick us up when the bus dropped us off as well (would've been a few km walk!). The owners are super friendly and make extra efforts to get to know the guests and accommodate as much as possible. The room was great, very clean. There are great trails around for hikers including Rincon de la Vieja. The only downside was you have to eat all meals on premises because there is no kitchen for customer use, restaurant, grocery stores nearby. The meals are buffet and are a bit overpriced for the quality. They packed a lunch for us when we hiked the volcano and it was a bit small for the strenous nature of the hike. Had I not brought some of my own snacks (which I bought in Liberia), I would've had a hard time on that hike!
