Niets

Kamers gehorig door verkeer en feestende bevolking. Geen badjas, handoeken niet aangevuld wel weggehaald. Alleen water bij aankomst. Rest betalen. Geen voorzieningen in de avond zoals een bar of iets.

Incredible service and staff, super comfy and characterful rooms. Very quiet, like you have the whole place to yourselves. Great breakfast in a beautiful setting. It's a working farm so expect the odd noise in the mornings!

"Het verblijf ging niet door. Voelt als oplichting."

Niks. Een dag voordat we zouden komen kregen we een telefoontje dat er een dubbele boeking was. Onze boeking werd gecanceld. Ze regelde een andere accommodatie, heel anders dan we wilden maar op oudejaarsdag is er bijna niks meer vrij.

3 weken later ben ik nog steeds bezig om het beloofde bedrag terug te krijgen. Elke keer weer andere smoezen.

"This is not five star"

Quiet and the location was great.

The five star rating, plus photos of the renovated wine tasting room are unfortunately very misleading regarding the actual accommodation. While the tasting room is modern and stunning (clearly where the investment has gone), the Manor House is extremely dated. The stay was functionally frustrating: the water stopped working, the Wi-Fi didn't work and the electricity was unreliable. We encountered numerous rips and stains on the furniture. Having just stayed at Spier in Stellenbosch (a 4-star that was exemplary in every way), the contrast was stark. Rather than a "cheap 5-star," I would categorise Rickety Bridge as an expensive 2/3-star. I would not recommend staying here unless they reduce the price to be in line with a two star hotel. Or they invest in renovating to bring it up to a four star. The staff were lovely, attentive, and very apologetic about the issues.
