The Springs is an absolutely beautiful resort! The rooms are spacious and we had a stunning view. The staff are exceptionally kind and helpful! The food and service was top notch!! We also did many activities- night walk, coffee /chocolate tour, animal sanctuary and the volcano walk. They are all very professionally run and so enjoyable!! Loved everything!

"Spectacular views"

8.0

First, I'd like to thank Jefry Vargas, Gabriel, Fernando, Alejandra (I hope that I remember all the names correctly) + all the guys with the chocolate + concierge people. The staff of this hotel is simply amazing! We felt very welcomed by these guys and receiving not just fake smiles because they work there. Thank you & best regards! The views, the hot springs, even if they're artificial, all the nature - sloths, toucans, wild turkeys, etc., - make it worthy to stay in this hotel even if it's a bit dated. The design of the hotel is interesting, a bit grandiose, but gives the impression of the luxurious place. What was also a nice surprise - washing and drying machines. There is also a laundry service provided by the hotel too but I appreciate it was possible to do laundry myself. One more positive thing is that this hotel offers activities. So, just in case no tour is booked or planned, it's possible something to do on the grounds of the resort itself. However, for me the food was a real downside of the stay. Breakfast was a little bit basic for a resort this scale and in a such flavours and food rich country. But the biggest shock for me was that it was not included. Also... a single espresso costs 4.5 $ - ... I think it's a rip off. As we wanted to rest and not to drive to La Fortuna town, we decided to eat a few times at the hotel. Lunch and dinner options are good but the prices were shocking most of the time, basic soup was overpriced. When I think how we were met in Constance Lemuria in Seychelles and had a great farewell, I think The Springs have a really great opportunities to improve that and especially for the price their guests pay. Overall, it was a comfortable stay.

"We highly recommend this place!"

10.0

Our river tubing experience at Club Rio was truly outstanding, delivering a premium, VIP-level adventure from start to finish. The property itself is breathtaking, with beautifully maintained green areas, lush natural surroundings, and spectacular views of the Arenal Volcano that make the experience even more unforgettable. We would also like to highlight the exceptional work of the river guides, Gerald and Sivianny, whose professionalism, friendliness, and attention to detail made the activity not only safe but incredibly fun and enjoyable from beginning to end. A very special mention goes to the photography service by Jefry Urbina. Without a doubt, these are the most elegant, sharp, and professionally captured photos we have ever purchased from any tour or activity. The image quality is outstanding, and every moment is perfectly preserved. Beyond the adventure, Club Rio offers an excellent VIP hospitality experience. The restaurant located beside the Arenal River features delicious food, a beautiful atmosphere, and the ideal setting to relax after the activity. The level of care and warmth shown by every collaborator truly makes guests feel valued and well taken care of. Highly recommended for anyone visiting La Fortuna and looking for a high-end experience surrounded by nature. Unforgettable moments, exceptional service, and photos that are absolutely worth it.

Springs Resort was magical - great mix of activities and relaxing available. The hot springs and spa were great to relax in. The monkey slide is a blast. We had the best service from Tony at Tree Top Grill.

"Once in a lifetime trip"

10.0

From the second we arrived, I was mesmerized and I am not easily impressed! We have been to many upscale resorts but this one blew them out of the water! It is truly a unique property. It is a 4.5hr drive from Liberia airport. We hired a driver from ILT Costa Rica which made it a seamless journey. The hotel is located right in the middle of the rain forest. While at the pool above the hot springs, we saw several monkeys up in the trees which was a very cool experience. One thing we loved about the property was the ability to do multiple tours & activities on the property at Club Rio. The hotel has a quick bus shuttle to club rio down at the river & the activities desk makes it extremely convenient to book an activity at a minutes notice. The top activity I would recommend is the night rainforest walk. It is a once in a lifetime experience walking through the rainforest in the dark(with flashlights)hearing all the creatures. The expert guides will show you snakes, poison dart frogs, etc that you would never spot on your own. The major draw of this hotel are the hot springs. They are very private & you will never have to share them as there are over 20 of them. We were here 5 nights & each day that we spent here was more exciting than the last. We are already talking about coming back next year.

"SUPER IMPRESSED"

10.0

We were impressed by the photos online, but nothing compared to the magic of being there. We visited for our anniversary, and the staff made us feel truly celebrated, congratulating us everywhere we went. Our room was spacious and beautiful, with a bathroom that felt like a private retreat. The serene hot springs, breathtaking views, and delicious meals made our stay unforgettable. We visited the spa twice, once indoors and once outdoors surrounded by the trees, and it was an unforgettable experience. We will definitely be back.

"Don't hesitate, it's worth it!"

10.0

This place is absolutely magical. Even though we didn’t have the best luck with weather—we visited during the "dry season" and had steady rain for three days—it honestly didn’t matter at all. If you’re going to be in the rainforest, this is the place to stay. With 28 hot spring pools spread throughout the property, there’s always somewhere warm and relaxing to enjoy, rain or shine. And even with the rain, it stays comfortably warm. This was our first time staying in a rainforest, and the rain actually added to the experience—it made everything feel even more lush and alive. The property is stunning, incredibly green, and beautifully maintained. The hot spring pools are scattered throughout the grounds, making it feel peaceful and never crowded. The rooms are very spacious and thoughtfully designed, with wonderful balconies that face the volcano—an unforgettable view. We also had a car, which made it very easy to leave the property for tours, to go into town, or to dine off-site. The drive into the resort alone is an experience—winding through the countryside with animals along the way, crossing rushing rivers and charming single-lane bridges. Many of the major sights and activities are about a 20-minute drive from the resort, and having a car gave us so much flexibility. A huge bonus was the complimentary laundry service, which was incredibly convenient, considering how wet we got. We absolutely loved our stay at The Springs Resort & Spa and can’t wait to come back.

While the property itself is stunning, the food, beverage, and retail pricing was extremely disappointing. Prices were so high that it felt excessive and, frankly, insulting. At Las Ventanas, the least expensive glass of wine or cocktail was $28, which is very difficult to justify. The gift shop pricing was equally extreme. For example, a raincoat in the resort shop was priced at $100, while the exact same raincoat in town was $29. I strongly recommend renting a car so you can leave the property to dine and shop elsewhere and support the local economy. The resort brochure notes that the property is owned by an American family, which made the pricing feel even more disconnected from the surrounding area. I have traveled extensively, including to Iceland and Switzerland—both often cited as the most expensive countries in the world—and the pricing at this resort exceeded both. The resort itself is beautiful, but the pricing structure significantly detracts from the overall experience.
