"A charming pilgrims’ rest"

I am not going to pretend that this lovely hotel is perfect but for anyone who likes charm, atmosphere and an excellent location this is the place for you. Parking was offsite, about half a mile a way and an extra cost but that is Canterbury for you. It was built a long time before cars became a thing. A bit of a faff but it worked and was not a problem for two healthy people. If you are disabled or obese I would not advise you choosing this wonderfully old and atmospheric hotel. The stairs, steps and narrow passageways will be a challenge but otherwise this place is a delight. The staff could not be more helpful or welcoming, the location could not be more central and the amenities are very good. The hotel is in need of a little TLC but if you were its age so would you! But what it has in abundance is character. It is not a Sheraton or a Premiere Inn or a Travelodge. It is real. And given its location, it is really quite inexpensive. To sum up, charming place, brilliant location, lovely people. Who needs more?
