Real Ryokan atmosphere, friendly staff who was very willing to help, cosy room. The ryokan is located in a quiet street at a walking distance from some main temples (like Kiyomizu Dera) and the area is full of nice bars and restaurants. The rooms have been refurbished recently so they are brand new and clean (including bathroom). The cleaning service is optional but you can request it daily. The continental breakfast comes for free and is not minimal as described in other reviews. It was our best stay in Japan and was really great value for money. I would definitely come back.
