La Quinta by Wyndham Houston East at Normandy

Was there for 4 nights. Property was great. Nice and quiet. The property is gated so you have to get access code to get off property not entering the property. There is only one pool (outdoor) kind of small. Breakfast was good, different breakfast choices. My only complaint would be front desk who are the first point of contact for a business that should making a great impression. However this was not the case here. The women staff were great but the 2 gentlemen at front desk I encounter was not so pleasant at all. It seems as If they did not want to be bothered with any questions/issues I had. When I visit Houston next time I will try a different location.

The hotel needs some updates. Here is the good. The room was nice and cold. If you have ever been in Texas heat, then you will appreciate the coolness of a room. It was a clean room with plenty of towels. Breakfast was good, but please get regular syrup. I like all my calories and will diet at home. No sugar free syrup at all, please. Now the bad. The elevator was broken and the ice machine on the 3rd floor did not work. It was a hassle walking the stairs every day for our stay. The hot water did not heat up properly. The most frustrating part was the check-in. The young lady could not access the system to check anyone in until the next person on shift came in, who was late by 30 minutes. It was not cool waiting almost 6 hours to check in at almost midnight. Management needs to be accountable for not answering employees and only having 1 person on duty.

The area that this hotel was located was not a nice area at all. Everything was run down and just didn’t seem safe. The pillows were all run down as well. I asked for another pillow, hoping for something more comfortable because I could not sleep on those pillows. They said they do not have extra pillows…….like seriously???? We ended up leaving a day early and never got a refund

Cigarettes everywhere...parking lot, pool deck, and sidewalk. Excessive charges if you check in/out a few minutes early or late. The hotel was long over due for deep cleaning and general repairs. Furniture was beaten up and door was damaged. You have to punch in a code to exit the property.

All staff very friendly except for the Night Shift front office guy who was not friendly at all i would ask questions and he get bother because he was always in the phone
