Gladstone House

The heating system didn't work and it was painfully cold. The helpless staff offered me an extra blanket. Although there is a thermostat which controls temperature and fan speed, in fact, it has no control of the temperature or fan. The temperature was absolutely freezing and there was a strong fan blowing directly at the bed, making it impossible to sleep. Even when I tried to completely turn off the thermostat, the fan continued to blow regardless. Exhausted from traveling, I took a taxi to Walmart to buy a small heater, which saved my life. The room is modern, with large windows all of which are absolutely filthy on the outside, ruining the appeal of the room or view. I had to fix the toilet chain a few times. Nicely designed hotel, but these little things ruined it.

Staff were really nice, hotel aesthetic was great.

The coffee machine was quite rough. Buttons all worn off. I don’t visit Toronto often, so I was unaware location how loud the location was. My room was right off queen street and I could barely sleep with how loud it was.

Liked the old school elevator. Like the facf that it had a unique design to the interior of the hotel

Would have appreciated a closet or dresser. Our room didn’t get cleaned or freshened the first 2 nights

Beautiful old heritage building. Nice staff and clean comfortable rooms. Close to downtown and many restaurants.

The layout of the room. There should be some closet or proper clothes rack. The metal bar is literally hanging too close to the bed so you hit your head on it constantly. I wish the sink was in the bathroom as well. It was literally a heat wave in Toronto and the hotel does not have water in the lobby. A couple of bottles of water per room plus some kind of ice machine would make the quests feel taken care of. I know this hotel will sell rooms by virtue of its arty design however a couple simple tweaks would do wonders. Also no real cable tv…needs smart tvs.

There was a wedding. This caused us not to be able to access room service or the bar which we planned on using for the night. Air conditioner broke. For the money I paid - and being forced to find somewhere else to eat and get a drink - it was ridiculous.

Amazing stay and staff! The location is perfect Ana rooms are very nice! Highly recommend!
