Hotel Piroscafo

I am fortunate to travel widely and often. Hotel Piroscafo is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. It may not be high end luxury but the location, overlooking Desenzano’s old fishing port is absolutely perfect. It is conveniently close to the superb restaurant Sottovento-see my review of same. The staff were all exceptionally friendly and helpful, especially Alberto who patiently answered all of my questions when I was checking in as well as giving me some very helpful advice in addition. My room had a balcony which I had to drag myself away from at bedtime and before my evening meal and setting out in the morning. The balcony was a perfect setting at the end of the day to enjoy some postprandial ice cream washed down with some bubbly. If your budget doesn’t run to a room with a balcony there is a large communal balcony where you can enjoy the views every bit as much. On a broader note, my original itinerary was to spend three nights in Desenzano and three nights in Milan. Changing my itinerary to six nights in Desenzano was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Desenzano is only fifty minutes from Milan by train and to return to the beauty and calm of Desenzano and my balcony after a day sightseeing in the bustle of Milan was the ideal way to wind down. If you decide to take this commute option, be sure to break the return journey from Milan to visit the delightful little town of Peschiera with its wonderful old fishing port.

Great location - good quality rooms - lovely staff (they even laid on a special breakfast service at 5:30am for a cycle event)

We had the most amazing stay at Hotel Piroscafo and honestly didn’t want to leave. The location is absolutely perfect – right on the little harbour with stunning views from the balcony, especially in the evening when everything is lit up. It genuinely felt like staying in a postcard. Our room was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed, and waking up to that view each morning was a real highlight. The room was cleaned daily, beds made and everything restocked, which made the stay feel really well looked after. We had breakfast included, which was continental and absolutely perfect to start the day – fresh, simple and exactly what you need before heading out exploring. The hotel is in a great spot with everything on your doorstep – restaurants, shops and ferry access nearby. The ferry point is literally a 2–3 minute walk away, which made it so easy for us to explore other towns around Lake Garda without any hassle. There are plenty of bars and restaurants right near the hotel, and we ate in a few of them – all were very good, so you really can’t go wrong. The only thing to be aware of is that many don’t open until around 7–7:30pm, so it’s worth planning around that. All the staff were very pleasant and welcoming throughout our stay, which really added to the experience. Even the minibar prices were very reasonable, which was a nice surprise compared to most hotels. Despite being in a central location, we didn’t find it noisy at all in the evenings – everything seemed to wind down nicely, so we slept really well. Overall, we had such a lovely experience and would absolutely stay here again. It really made our trip special.

If we had one small suggestion, it would be the addition of a full-length mirror in the room. There is a large mirror in the bathroom, but having one in the main room or near the dressing area would be really helpful.

Se pare ca in italia cand alegi un budget hotel nu poți avea așteptări prea mari,geamul camerei dădea exact într-o alee pe unde trecea toată lumea deci nu l.am putut deschide,la fel furnici credca au o problema cu furnicile.micul un sărăcie rau,chiar daca este gratuit nh ai ce sa mananci. plus o grămadă de taxe și parcarea la jumate de km distanta bineînțeles plătită

Shower way very small which made it unusable to get in and use. . Bed was not the best
