"Schönes, individuelles Hotel fernab aller Hektik."

8.0

"Not as we hoped"

6.0

We stayed here for three nights in June 2013 on our way to Sicily. The grounds were pleasant and ideal for those into horses. Staff were pleasant enough but the room was small and uninspiring. The food was not good and served in an almost empty restaurant by a disinterested waiter. On our third night we decided not to eat at the hotel! The hotel was so disappointing that we cancelled our scheduled stay there on our return trip.

"Fantastic stabe and riding"

8.0

My daughter and I had a riding holiday here. Maria Guttridge made the experience unforgettable. She is an exceptional stable manager coping with horses, staff, clients and the hunting stable owner with gentle grace. We had two hours of lessons in the morning and a 3-4 hour hack in the afternoons. With just enough time to rest between. The lands surrounding are a protected ecological reserve and charmingly beautiful. The water buffalo added an intriguing challenge to our hack that phased Maria not at all. Her calm kept all her charges in good stead. The horses are well stabled and the eldest animal near the end of its life was allowed to amble where it found comfort. Our confidence and competence riding increased considerably. Maria encouraged sensibly challenges. The hotel was fine. The restaurant was competent, we had an inclusive meal which quickly seemed tiresome by its lack of variety but we came to ride. The staff were gracious or characterful. Come to ride for an good value riding holiday.

"Much Overpriced for what we got"

6.0

On the lake? no. the name of the hotel is confusing. Due Laghi means 2 lakes. we can't say it is far from the lake but certainly not walking distance and not with any view. the service is very minimum. surely below what you could expect for a 4-star. I booked a double room and mentioned I was expecting a scenic view. there was no view at all, just overseeing a technical building of the farm. nothing nice. my idea to book outside Rome was to be in the country side and get a better room for similar price. I got similar price, 120 Euro on booking.com but the room is very small. That's not what we expect for a Relais within the country. In addition I booked the breakfast for 7 Euro / pers. a disappointing breakfast. as the manager mentioned, it would be acceptable if included but because we have to pay 7 Euro extra for it, it becomes totally overpriced. that's also what I feel about the room, nicely decorated but with a size of one in Paris or Rome. the concept of being close to Rome is to catch the numerous trains to Rome with a stop near San Peter Square (Stazione San Pietro). When I asked the receptionist how to go to Rome, he was just able to tell me to go to the Anguillara station. Where can I park the car? don't know. just pay 4 Euro for the day. How much cost the taxi to the station if I want to let my car at the hotel? don't know. Then he called a taxi asking for 60 Euro but to go to Rome. What is the time schedule of the train? don't know. go there and wait for the next train. That's not a 4-star service. even B&B are doing better, with map of the area and all useful information for tourists. I felt very bad leaving my car in the middle of nowhere in the station area with absolutely no clue if I would find it when I'm back. we don't watch TV when travelling so I don't bother much. but for those who need their TV news fix, just expect a very small screen. last negative point, the shower is too small for such level of price and hotel rank. This relais is a farm with horse and cheese production + a spa. except a poster in the entrance, there is no link with cheese tasting or even visit to the spa. the 2 positive points I see, the terrace used for the breakfast is nice. the horse is stable is walking distance from the building so that's nice to see horses early morning. the 2 nights we spent there were 2 nights too much. disappointing.

"A comfortable hotel in a magical setting"

10.0

I visited this hotel with my mother and sister and we thoroughly recommend it for its caring and interesting atmosphere. The ambience is magical, it is beautifully and tastefully decorated with many unusual equestrian paintings and scruptures decorating the corridors. The grounds are fabulous. Although we were only staying a night and left early the next morning. We enjoyed dinner and breakfast; dinner comprised organic meat and vegetables grown on the estate, which was beautifully cooked. All the staff were extremely helpful and obliging. I would recommend this hotel to anyone desiring comfort, and good food in a charming and beautiful setting. The staff were always on hand to make our stay welcoming, happy and comfortable. This is a very special hotel.

"A good place to spend a few days"

10.0

We arrived late and so did not see the comprehensive horseriding and other outdoor facilities provided from this hotel until we were leaving the following morning. There are also very good spa treatment facilities available here, so it's would appear to be more worthwhile spending a few days here rather than using it just as an overnight stop, which seems to waste the opportunites available. Cheese is also made in the onsite farm.

"Fading or faded?"

6.0

Nothing really wrong with this place, it's a bit out of the way and you certainly can't see the lake. The staff are polite and helpful and all speak excellent English. Seems to be popular for horse riding and a very rural. The local area is lovely and well worth a visit. The rooms are dated, but maybe they're meant to be? Some spiders web on one lamp but generally clean and tidy.

""Country" Relais"

6.0

As you can see from the title, the most important word in the name of this hotel is "Country" - it's on a back road, set in the countryside, so expect to be isolated. And we were not displeased with this hotel - the triple room we had was charming - but perhaps the second word in the hotel's name is stretching it a bit. This is not a "Relais" in any sense of the word I know. The approach is not charming but is rather littered with loitering, LARGE dogs, at least 15 of them, all of whom seemed friendly but none of which were fenced or in any way secured. If I had had young children with me, I would not have allowed them out without an adult: a pity, since the hotel park is inviting. The room was charming but the owner was astonished when we asked for 3 extra pillows, and although the pillows were brought to us in a timely way, we had to hear first of all how busy they'd been all day. Ho hum - isn't that the name of the game? The bathroom would definitely be improved with a ventilator - got a little damp in there - and the bed linens need to be renewed: they were clean but had been washed so many times they were beginning to wear through in places. On a positive note, the breakfast was tasty, tasteful and ample.
