Hotel Grillo Verde

The location was great, a little bit noisy with the life of subberbian little town passing by. The hotel has a nice charm of a past provincial luxury of the 1990. Very clean. Great base to visit Pompei and all archeological excavations around. For breakfast just a cappuccino was worth ordering, but to be honest coffee in the bar next door and the freshly squeezed orange juice from homegrown oranges with fresh croissant all together for 6.50 Euro is a much better choice.

Clean room, delicious breakfast, kind staff. It’s located within a 3 minute walk away from the train station, so you can visit all the key attractions in the area without a car (pompeii, ercolano, oplontis, vesuvio…) and Napoli too, the train tickets from Torre Annunziata Centrale are quite affordable (about 2 or 3€).

Close vicinity of the hotel was very busy, noisy and dirty. The hotel took my id for the time of the stay (unacceptable) but the receptionist could hardly talk english so I had no other option. During checkout there was nobody around, and since I was in a hurry, I forgot the id, which the hotel did not even notice.

Breakfast is classic Italian sugary fare but cook/waitress brought whatever you asked for - eggs, prosciutto, tomatoes, etc. We stayed in Grillo Verde as a family almost 25 years ago to be close to Pompeii, Herculaneum and the Amalfi Coast. Grillo Verde was and is a classic hotel of the old style in terms of decor, towels, service. We were pleased that the same family continues to run it.

Fewer mosquitoes. Horrific traffic on the roads. Also, Torre Annunziata is a rather gritty and unattractive town. Nonetheless we found locals to be friendly and very helpful.

Clean, air conditioning, great showers, close to transport routes. Friendly staff. Great choice of breakfast.

The ceiling fluorescent bulb would not turn off completely, so I had to sleep with the room half-lighted. The window faced a hallway with chairs where people sat to talk until late. It was difficult to sleep like that. The buffet breakfast was all cold, individually wrapped pastries or toasted bread, except for coffee. The air conditioner did not allow me to change the temperature below 24 degrees Celsius.

That was the only hotel in the neighbourhood which was 1 km away from Pompeii and the train station

The receptionist was not friendly nor helpful, the breakfast was cheap and not fresh, the restaurant was awful and the neighbourhood was dirty and sketchy.

When I come back home to Torre Annunziata I stay at Grillo Verde for a month or more. I feel at home and the owners and all the staff do their best to make me feeling at home. There is a very good restaurant with good choice of food and wine, and some times I ask for special meals which is provided with pleasure
