Hotel Metropole

The good: great location for exploring Santa, Portofino, and Cinque Terre. Housekeeping and breakfast were great. The pool and pool staff are nice but pool is small. The lady at check in was very nice. The spa pool is very cool. The gardens are stunning. The medium: the rest of the desk staff were unhelpful bordering on completely unorganized-charged us twice because they “used the wrong machine.” There’s a sewer smell in the hallways (it’s an old hotel on the shore, I understand this.) The beach platform is not good. The bad: the free beach chairs are awful so you have to pay for loungers. My hat was stolen while we were in the spa pool. I put all my effects in a locker but my hat did not fit. As we were the only guests and it was near closing time, it seemed ok to leave it on the bench by the lockers. When I couldn’t find it and asked the staff person if they had picked it up, she was immediately aggressive that “there was no hat.” Draw your own conclusions as to who stole my hat. We were really disappointed we could only get a room here for 2 of our 5 nights in Santa but it turned out to be a blessing as we also stayed next door at the Helios which was honestly a much nicer experience.

The hotel grounds are absolutely stunning and well maintained. The staff are lovely and helpful. The hotel is quite dated and would benefit from a refurbishment. No iron or ironing board in the rooms. Also no kettle, wine glasses or tea/coffee facilities. Great location

Great staff and breakfast and dinner. Service was outstanding. Lovely location and professional. This sort of traditional European hotel is not that common anymore.

La struttura non è curata nei dettagli, si vede che in passato era un hotel di un certo livello, ma ora ci sono molte cose da rivedere. Lo staff del servizio alla colazione non molto cortese. Il caffè espresso è imbevibile. Essere svegliati dalle pulizie che fanno rumore alle 9.00 non è accettabile. Dover pagare un sovrapprezzo di 40€ in due al giorno per il lettino in spiaggia dopo aver già pagato il soggiorno (non poco) è assurdo. Visto che la spiaggia è dell’hotel ma aperta anche ad altri, che già è un disagio, il minimo sarebbe non dover pagare per andarci. La decisione di spendere certe cifre per alloggiare in questo hotel è anche legata al fatto di avere certi servizi, se poi sono a pagamento, non ha più senso.

So clean , lush gardens, spa and fitness daily, great food , beach right there for you. Resort living inside a town. Dont even have to leave if you don’t want to.

Thin walls and cleaning staff starting at 7 am. Summer camp wake up whistle !!

Location, cleanliness, food - exceptional breakfast and very nice dinners. Staff, pool, lido and gym facilities.

It feels like it’s aging just a little in places. Our shower broke on our last evening. We reported this but no one was sent. Felt our room was a little expensive for what it was. €30 euro per day parking charge. This is unjustified when one considers the room rates.
