Pão de Açúcar – Vintage Bumper Car Hotel

I had booked a suite , but was allocated a room. I complained immediately and we were changed to a suite. The breakfast room was crowded and the selection was limited, no hot food. the reception staff were helpful and enjoyed a laugh and a joke. They were well informed, and able to recommend and direct us to restaurants and places of interest. Overall a good place to stay.

From the outside and in the reception area, it looks a little gritty and worn, but the rooms themselves were very nice. The bathroom was spacious and modern and the main room very comfortable. The staff were great. They were friendly and helpful -- especially in helping me retrieve my lost cell phone. We were very comfortable there and would gladly stay again if we return to Porto.

Room was depressing, very high small Windows in a narrow corner made us feel in jail. Had little natural light. Got changed next day for next door room with bug window. Unfortunately bed was not so comfortable. Breakfast reasonable. Decir retro in hotel was fascinating. Loved it. Staff spoke perfect English and very helpful.

Good location in town, rooms were a little dated but bathroom was very nice and modern. Got a little noisy in the morning.

Hotel was very clean, the staff very cordial and professional, excellent location, breakfast was good enough.

The hotel is close to public trains and access to the Duoro River. Many fine nearby choices for dinner. Interesting small retail in local area. Watch for all the lovely churches within a five minute walk of the hotel.

I asked for a quiet room as my only request. I was put next to elevator- accross from stairs with no carpet. I could here people coming in until 2 AM. Walls are thin. I could hear snoring in next room. At 3 AM homeless person camping across street right outside my window started screaming and yelling for 2 hours! I was planning on staying several days. I checked out as early as I could after being awake all night.

Nice atmosphere, friendly, helpful and professional staff. Breakfast was a bit poor. Bathroom solution in the room should be re- considered. Optimal place for a few days stay. Price/ value relation was ok.

Great hotel. Clean and big room. Really good breakfast!!
