La Locanda Del Capitano

Locanda del Capitano is a lovely boutique hotel in a wonderful/picturesque Umbrian hilltown, Montone. The chef and his staff produce amazing gourmet dinners, so it's definitely worth booking a dinner or two! Breakfast is also wonderful.

It was difficult to say what you'd want for breakfast the night before; however, I do understand that this was done to avoid food waste with a big breakfast buffet.

Fabulous location in a beautiful village with wonderful decor and traditional facilities. Very friendly and helpful staff from arrival to departure. Food was gorgeous.

There was nothing not to like, it was very quiet, but we had dinner on the second night and the atmosphere was lovely. (Maybe advice that the welcome glass of Prosecco at dinner was being charged and an indication of the price of the ‘special’ beef would have been helpful, but both were gorgeous and I could have asked.) we would return without hesitation.

Lovely small and tastefully renovated hotel on the main square. Very close to several excellent restaurants. Small number of individual rooms with lovely features. Staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. Great location to visit the surrounding vineyards of Montefalco and to taste the excellent Sagrantino red wines. Montefalco is a small walled hillside town with some nice shops. The hotel also had a good breakfast included in the price for our stay.

A beautiful little place, in a stunning setting, with exquisite food and hospitality, from Giancarlo and his team.

We found the bed and pillows very hard. The manager tried to help with this by swapping our mattress.

This is a charming hotel in a great location. We go every year.

Not much

I stayed with my 11 year old daughter and it was our first trip without the rest of the family so I was a little nervous. The staff were incredibly friendly and lovely with my daughter. The breakfast was excellent, all served to your table and made to order. The pastries and cakes were lovely. The location is great, right in the heart of this beautiful village. We didn't stay long in our room or eat in the restaurant, but have heard good reviews from friends who live there. Would highly recommend!
