"An unfortunate experience"

Good location in the centre of the town, about 30 minutes walk to the railway station along a flat route, so not too difficult. Near to bars, shops and supermarket and convenient for the bus/tram for easy access into Venice.

We received a very warm welcome from the reception staff but sadly, we were very disappointed with our room. It was very small and minimally furnished. There was a step immediately inside the door and also one into the bathroom both of which were ‘trip hazards’ and should have warning signs. The light in the bathroom was not working and we could not find the switch. The receptionist couldn’t find it either but then found that the light had been switched off at the fuse box! We quickly discovered that the ’court yard’ view we had been promised was actually a yard full of bins! The room was more budget hotel than three star and bore no resemblance whatsoever to the illustrations on booking.com and the hotel’s own website. To cut a long story short we asked for another room but the hotel was full apart from the Pent House apartment which was designed for seven people. Nobody had any suggestion as to what could be done about the bathroom light and as we didn’t want to stay in a room with electrics, which, although probably safe enough, were not satisfactory we really had no alternative but to accept the Pent House and pay the difference. Our two night stay actually in the end cost more than double our original booking! Breakfast itself was OK with quite a bit of variety but the buffet had been shoe horned into a corner and the space was not adequate for the large number of people using it. If you don’t want breakfast and can guarantee that you get one of the illustrated rooms overlooking the Piazza this is not a bad place to stay, otherwise avoid it!
