Hôtel Restaurant Davat

My husband and I spent two nights this past June in Aix-les-Bains in the Hotel Davat. It was our wedding anniversary. The restaurant just situated outside the restaurant is so quaint an surrounded by what you would picture on a postcard of the french countryside. Fields of lavender and roses. The smell of figs and mulberries in the air. Sophie and Bertrand make you feel like family.

We are staying for three nights and have had a wonderful time here. Although the rooms are a little old-fashioned in style, they are very clean and the location is perfect - the lake is not visible from the rooms, but is only a little way down the road. We have eaten here, in the garden, and the food was very good - cheaper than some of the restaurants at the Grand Port, but a good choice of menus. There is a small gym which is free to guests and beauty treatments, massages, etc. are available at extra cost. Altogether good value for money and we would stay here again in this pretty town.

We stayed here in May as part of a month long bike trip round Europe. We really loved this hotel and wished we'd stayed longer than the one night we had. The location is fabulous if you want to be near the lake (5 mins walk) but bad if you want to be near the town (a good couple of miles). We wanted to be near the lake, so we were fine. Our room was in the separate building. It was big, light and airy with our own balcony overlooking some gardens - a really lovely room. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My husband wanted a massage and they got the masseuse in at late notice for us, which was kind. We left before breakfast but wished we'd stayed much longer. We'll be back.
