Aparthotel PYR Fuengirola

I have stayed in the PYR many times and the same problem always exists. The wifi fails constantly and the tv signal fails around 50% of the time. It normally doesn't bother me but as it rained most of the time, I was in the room more than usual. I found ot very frustrating.

We stayed in an apartment at the PYR Fuengirola on the 3rd floor facing the swimming pool. First the good points, the building is centrally located, very clean and well maintained. The pool is excellent, with plenty of sun beds and a lifeguard on duty. The apartment was a good size and well equipped Now the not so good, whilst the PYR itself is excellent unfortunately there are a lot of bars, nightclubs and gentlemen’s clubs very close to the PYR The volume of the music, starting around midnight until between 5.30-6.30am, from these venues is extreme, so we found sleep impossible on Friday, Saturday & Sunday evenings. It was so bad we paid to stay in a different hotel for 3 nights to get some sleep We would not stay here again purely for this reason

Nice apartment, great location near train station and seafront. Friendly staff and very clean. Comfy beds and great shower. Definitely stay there again. Nice shower gels and shampoos supplied. Only thirty minutes by train from Málaga airport.

Great short stay close to beach excellent view from balcony. Near all the bars and restaurants

Fantastic apartment complex and right in the middle of the strip. Perfect for access to everything and plenty of food places as well as drinks. Accommodation is very clean and excellent for anything you may need

We went for a self catering winter break Jan.'25 and we really had a very poor experience at this Hotel. The positives, which are few ; The Cleaning staff , The Maintenance staff and one of the Managers , Anna May who was very understanding and customer friendly. Location, close to bus & train station. The Negatives ; On arrival, we paid for a room upgrade for the duration of our stay .We were given room 236 , which overlooks a couple of strip clubs. The shutters don't come down until 5am and the noise and aggressive behaviour ensured we got no sleep on our first night. We looked for an immediate change of room. We moved to the 9th floor same side (slightly less noise) , to a room that turned out to be like a Sauna and we couldn't control the heat We were give electric fans , this didn't work. On the move again. We then moved to the other side of the Hotel to a Stuio Apartment. ( upgraded) - this was fine for a while until a bad smell ( drain) started filtering through the while Apartment , it stayed here 'til we left. Reception thought workmen may have been the cause if it , as almost half of the Apartments are privately owned. Self catering facilities are poor and hidden behind a curtain. The smell in the room ensured we did not make full use of the self catering facilities. Finally , Customer Service would need to be worked on , after all we are paying customers - Guests.

Good hotel for short stay

Very clean apartment. Staff friendly. Central. location. Good bar. Would recommend solo friends and family. The option to have breakfast looks very good. I didn't take this as the kitchen is well equipped and have an option to go to local eateries.

Good value for money

Booked the Penthouse Villa from 23rd to 30th December 2024. This is my honest review. We travelled with another family who booked the standard 2 room apartment. Seemed like their one had just been renovated and our penthouse was stuck in the 90s. The hotel location is very central to shops and bars. However this is a double edged sword. The noise from bars and pubs goes on to 4am. The noise was extreme. The family we were with were on 2nd floor and they did not get any sleep. Our penthouse was on the 10th floor and the noise was bad. The wind caused the patio doors to rattle which didnt help either. The beds were absolutely terrible. So bad that our backs are broke. House cleaning was good and we appreciated them. The odd thing was there was 1 tv in the livingroom with none in the main bedroom. Our penthouse was okay but needs major refurbishment. Even though we confirmed with the hotel that the main pool was heated, we found that it wasnt. The pool was at -4 degrees cel. So cold that going in meant becoming ill. The reason given was that the hotel did not meet the energy efficiency rating. Our room came with breakfast. It was very basic, like travelodge does better breakfast. And they never change the menu. Overall, our stay was only good because we went out of the hotel and paid for things. Id you get stuck in the hotel, God help you from boredom. My advice would be to book closer to Malaga or if coming to the area book 4 star ones. There are plenty to choose from. Lastly there is a train that comes from the airport to Fingerola so suggest taking that saving on transfers. There was plenty of food and things to do around this area, just a shame that this hotel isnt up to the standard it says it is.
